    Mindless Chatter - TGIF

It's finally here!! Friday friday friday!!

I have no plans for this weekend except to clean my most disgusting house. It has been really wet and raining here and my back yard is a soggy muddy mess which means that is tracked in to the house. I've blocked off my living room so the dogs can't go in there but my dining room is bad (where they come in from outside).

I went to a first aid class last night taught by a former army medic turned EMT (worked katrina for 4 weeks). He did a great job putting it in to perspective. People tend to panic in emergencies because they don't know if they are doing things right. If you remember that most injuries are treated in the field basically the same: if the person is not breathing, breath for them; if the heart isn't beating, pump it for them; if the person is bleeding, control the blood flow, etc.  Pretty basic! I liked how he taught the class.

Today is going to be long and drawn out. bleh. I think I will make a road trip

That first aid class does sound pretty neat!  I need to take one myself, but will probably do it online given my odd schedule.  No nifty teachers for me! Sad

So last night (at like 11pm lol) was a red letter event: I actually was able to handle and cook raw hamburger from start to finish!!!!!

This is pretty easy for most people, but I have a ginormous phobia about raw meat and foodborne illness, so at 24 the most I've done with raw meat is to cook it after DH put it in the pan.

I unpackaged 5lbs of raw burger, divided it into 4 bags for freezing, and then cooked about a lb or so - the trigger? I have two small samples of dehydrated raw supplement (SoJos) and to use it I needed meat. I bought the meat Monday night and haven't had a chance to mess with it until now because of work. I knew if I didn't do something now it'd go bad, so I had no choice!

I'm not to the point that I can feel ok with feeding the dogs raw, but this is still a huge step for me. I did clean all surfaces with disinfectant and had baggies over my hands so I didn't actually touch much, but I did pick up a few tidbits that fell out of the pan at least.

I was so proud of myself that I woke DH up to tell him! Smile

Congrats!! What you did was huge! You should be very proud of yourself.

That first aid class does sound good. Almost makes me want to take one myself... along with a first aid class for dogs.. do they even have those??

I'm still going stir crazy. 10 more days until I see my doctor and hopefully have all restrictions lifted. I can handle the laying around, resting alot, not bending and lifting or cleaning. But the not running around with the dogs is driving me mad.

Hope everyone else is doing well!!

Congrats!  That is a big deal...and a huge hurdle you've jumped for sure.  I would have woken up my DH too!  Here's to you!  Drinks

Its going to be a  rainy day today....but the bright side is the temperatures will be dropping around the lunch hour, with the front coming.  We are looking for the 60's later...Woo Hoo!

Today's is my DH's 50th birthday!  He is building himself an outside (patio bar); and as a birthday present, we bought a granite top for it.  I'll have to post some pictures, it is looking nice!  Of course, I've been taking daily progress pics.  LOL

    TGIF Everybody!

Thanks for the kudos! Smile  Of course now that DH knows I can do it I bet he's going to want to share cooking duties more lol!

There are dog first aid classes - I know our Red Cross holds them regularly.  They have a separate one for cats as well.

Barbara - you're getting our cool front I bet!  It came in on Wednesday night here and we had gorgeous weather yesterday.  Today ist's cold and rainy. Stick out tongue

Our red cross offers dog first aid classes monthly. I know a few people have taken it and they really thought it was valuable.

    WTG!

Going to spend the long weekend with my brother in Bar Harbor Maine… his stove is on the fritz so I have been cooking up a storm, mostly meals that microwave well. A friend turned me onto a breakfast calzone, found a recipe for it and a breakfast pizza… I’m hoping the microwave won’t turn it into shoe leather. Just made a dinner menu for the pups… DH wouldn’t have a clue on how much of what to feed them!
Scored tickets to Riverdance Farewell performance… bought them last Monday… the show is in April!
Survived another round of layoffs… surprised we aren’t working a 4-day week yet.

Congrats, stardog!  Huge deal to get past the first step.  That cool front is coming through here as we speak. lol  Pouring down rain which is supposed to clear out and give us a beautiful cooler weekend.  I am so ready for true cool weather to arrive.

Barb, I can't wait to see pic's of your hubby's patio project.

I ate some delicious tamales that one of the guys brought in this morning.  Greasy and delicious. lol  No lunch for me unless it has zero calories but it was so worth it.

    Have a good day everyone!

I've been sick since Sun Sept 26.  I had a really bad sore throat, headache, bad head cold.  Now I've just been coughing and congested for the past week and a half.  But my temp is running a bit high (I'm usually right at 98.6 and always feel cold, I don't normally run hot).  I've also had impetigo again which is a staph infection so it may be a response to that and have nothing to do with the bad cold.

I am stressssssed out.  I have so much to do today after work.  I have to clean the rest of the living room/dining rooms, the basement, wash the bathrooms, luckily i washed the kitchen floor last night, then go to the grocery store and pick up the rest of my stuff, set up my table and such in the dining room (i haven't got a dining room table let so I'm using Derek's big long folding table).

I'm thinking of taking the turkey out of the fridge over night tonight?  I am cooking it tomorrow morning, do you guys think that would be okay?

so much stuff to do!  But, I bought these cute thanksgiving tea towels :)  so i replaced my halloween ones for now :D

You may want to get a chest x-ray Lies.  You know rule out pneumonia and stuff.
