    Great article!

A nice little stat from the Bureau of Justice:

"Cases were terminated against 83,391 defendants during 2004. Most (90%) defendants were convicted. Of the 74,782 defendants convicted, 72,152 (or 96%) pleaded guilty or no-contest"

It seems to me that the Feds have a pretty good batting average, which I'm sure fueled Vick's lawyers to plead out.

I also saw this from an NFL spokesman:

"We totally condemn the conduct outlined in the charges, which is inconsistent with what Michael Vick previously told both our office and the Falcons," the spokesman said in a statement."

I have no idea how the NFL feels about animal cruelty, but I do know they don't take kindly to being lied to and having their players involved in betting.  Even if they don't ban him because of the animal cruelty (which they should), I hope they nail him to the wall for being the arrogant, spoiled, liar that he is.

It strikes me as a bit particular the people here who are, rightfully, so appalled at what Vick and his cohorts did to the dogs, yet these same people would have no problem seeing something terrible befall Vick.  Inhumanity is inhumane no matter who perpertrates it.

Out of curiosity though Billy.. what do you consider a fair sentence for Vick?

I really don't know.  I can't imagine he is going to get much jail time out of this.  Probably the best thing I can think of would be for him to never play professional football again, but even that isn't likely.  He might not play in the US but don't be surprised if you see him in Japan.  Also, he probably already has more money than he will ever spend.

Thanks for your answer Billy I was just curious after your last post so I thought I would ask. [:)]

I agree… fines aren#%92t gonna do crap.. he has way to much money to make even a small dent, and likely won#%92t get much jail time when all is said and done.  I am [sm=crossfingers.gif] for getting kicked out of the NFL, but again, as you stated,  there are other countries. I think there needs to be more “creative” judges in this country that come up with interesting sentences (and I am not talking stoning Vick or anything…just unusual ways to pay for his crimes).

Yep.  In the good ol' US of A, if you've got money, things are just easier.  I guess that's the way it should be, but...

I can't get into feeling sorry for Vick, or OJ, all the other creeps that reek havoc on other people and in this case animals.  and then get treated like heros and live in the lap of luxury.  [:@][:@]

Pretty sure, Bob, that NO ONE is asking you to "feel sorry" for Vick.. that wasn't the intent of Billy's comments... maybe you misread it or something?? [8|]

I doubt Vick or OJ will lose any sleep over how you feel about them.  [8|]

Ok then I will rephrase my remark,... If Vick's life turns into a horror story, it wouldn't bother me one little  bit.. He deserves it......   Is that better,.,,,,   [;)]
