Smokers or X-Smokers?

Hi there, I smoked for nine years (started very young =( ) and am almost done with nicotene all together now. I switched to a product caleld Snus. It can be hard to find usually you buy it at gas stations. It is a spitless tobacco you put in your mouth, comes in a neat little pouch so no mess. It's less expensive, less damaging to your health, and easier to get off than smoking. I am gradually stepping down. Haven't smoked a cigarette in about a month, and am down to using about 3 snus pouches a day. the patch did not work for me, cold turkey did not work for me, cutting back on smoking did not work for me, gum did not work for me. This actually is. Just a thought, good luck!

No real advice, just encouragement!!!  My uncle just died of bladder cancer, which I understand is a pretty common result of smoking (at least for men).  My ex was an on/off smoker and the one thing I repeated to him was that every day he DIDN'T smoke, was that much less damage in his system.  So, taking it one day at a time sounds like good advice from others.  Good luck, and stay strong!!!!

Is that what some people call chewing tobacco?  I don't think it would much of an effect on lungs, but I've read in quite a few places that it has been the cause of mouth cancer, so it's not as safe as people think it is.

We all got addicted to dog.com - it's why we stay!  Most of us don't go a day without checking in here at least once.   There's plenty of encouragement and support here, and lots of great resourceful individuals to offer help when/if you get stuck.  Your wishes for your life MUST be stronger than the desire to smoke, so mentally paint those images of you doing/feeling the way you want without the cigarettes & hold that image when you start to falter.  I'm doing the same with my own health and it's working. :D

Yup Joyce, it's about as far from safe as you can get, it causes squamous cell cancers of the head and neck. I would NEVER recommend a product like that to anyone. Chantix has been having a good vibe in the medical community for helping people quit smoking. If you are having a difficult time it may be worth a trip to your doctor to talk about it.
