Jackie - It is not nice that folks are poking fun at you in your time of distress...but I did laugh out loud too :). I hope the hot compresses work. Can't they give you any antibiotics or anything?

Amanda - Congrats on the custody dispute!!

It's gonna be a hot one here again today but fortunately, no humidity.

DH got off work yesterday morning and got a message yesterday afternoon that they needed all off duty ff's to show up a city hall for a press conference, so back downtown he went. The union offered up their 5% pay raise if there'd be no layoffs and the city flat out said "nope and we're done talking". It's gotten so contentious that I'm not sure there's much hope for a deal at this point. Our only hope is that enough people will take the early retirement option and since DH is so close to the cutoff, his job would be saved.

Wow, guys, I totally just bust a gut laughing so hard, and my coworkers are all looking at me funny now  Stick out tongue

We have water spots on a wall in our closet.  in the middle of the wall, not an outside wall, not a wall that should have any pipes in it.... and it's sloooooowly spreading.  Probably about 2"x12", but splotches over that area, not totally covered.  Spreads an inch or so every day.  I spent an hour up in the attic (read: playing in the itchy fiberglass insulation) last night and can find NOTHING wet.  If we can't figure it out, looks like DH will have to rip into the drywall.  Noticed it on Sunday after last Wed and Sat AM we had bad bad bad bad rains (lots of Pittsburgh flooded to the point where cars were floating down the street, but thankfully we're at the top of a hill).  Not sure if that did anything, but who knows what it could be from?!?!?!

We've been in our 6yr old house for only 6 weeks.  Weird things shouldn't be happening  Sad

Oh Cathy, it's ok, I'm not thin skinned about stuff.  If we can't laugh at silly things like this, might as well go crawl under a rock. Which I may have to do if my face starts to get cellulite. lol The doc didn't bring up antibiotics and I forgot to ask. :(  On a more serious note, sorry to hear that the union seems to  determined to shoot themselves in the foot.

DH made a cherry tomato, onion and cheese tart last night!  Can you believe that?  He saw the recipe somewhere and since we have cherry tomatoes coming out our ears.....This is what happened last night.  It has to be baked and he didn't want to use the oven and heat up the house.  He wanted to cook it on the grill.  Well, I told him that didn't seem like a good idea being that it's baked in a tart shell but he decided it would be fine. All I can say is, the filling was delicious once we scraped it out of the burnt crust and put it on some toasted garlic bread. LOL

Jackie - it's completely possible that antibiotics wouldn't do a thing, so don't go by me. It just seems that there must be something they could do before it takes over more of your face and I know that sometimes cellulitis can be quite serious.

That tart sounds delicious. My husband's the same way about heating up the house. I understand how he feels but some things just can't be cooked on a grill. I know a lot of people who grill their pizzas though, so maybe a tart wasn't such a stretch.

    You guys are too funny!

I think everyday when Glenda is complaining about the humidity that she would never survive in TX where it is humid and over 100 degrees outside!  It can be downright miserable here!  I am sure it can be the same way in Florida though.

Amanda - Congrats on the custody dispute!!

I keep reading this thread and I think I am missing something but I am hoping this means that you guys got custody of the boys?  If so, congrats!

I have dinner with friends both tonight and tomorrow night.  I am going to miss my baby so much by the time Friday gets here and I only get to see her a few minutes each day.  She will probbaly start waking me up to feed her each night too b/c of this.  We have had 2 nights in a row of no middle of the night feedings!  I think the dreamfeed I am doing before I go to bed is helping although she is waking up before I can get to her to do it lately so she obviously likes me to tank her up then too!

    • Gold Top Dog

Can someone please elaborate on the custody thing?

This butt humor is well timed...since I've been in the bathroom all morning prepping the floor for vinyl........

And no, I really don't do well in the deep South during the hotter seasons.  But, keep in mind, first I dang near had to turn into an eskimo to survive the winter in the RV and I actually got to the point that I found 55 or 60 the max I could deal with inside.  Then I got down here just in time to get lambasted with pre summer shenanigins, and then we had record highs so...........

One of the grandmothers of our boys sued us for custody.  We had to go to court, call witnesses, & all that jazz.  In the end, the judge ruled in our favor.

Cathy, I think that your city officials are nuts.  Negotiations are always tough, but there is no reason not to go back to the table & try to work something out.

It is hot as hell outside today!  Bevo's psychotic episodes weren't slowing down, so I took everyone outside for a bit.  Now, I'm soaked, & the dogs are hot, tired, & ready for a nap.  It's about time.

Amanda mentioned the custody thing in yesterday's thread, that's why you can't find it. lol

Cathy, I think I'll call my eye doc back and ask about an antibiotic.  It's not something I want to laugh off.  He's a good doctor but I could tell he was sort of distracted yesterday when I was talking to him.  My eye is actually a little better.  I've been doing the warm compresses last night and today so maybe it's starting to drain.

Glenda, you need to move to Hawaii, perfect weather and no snakes.  Now if you figure out a way to do that, let me know and I'll be right behind you.  LOL

Nicole, that really sucks about the water stain.  Hope you can find the source.  Welcome to the wonderful world of owning your very own set of problems and repairs.  Just kidding, it's so much better than renting.

Yes, but pizza on the grill doesn't have to cook for 45 minutes like this tart. lol  I don't like to heat up the house with the oven either but I would have settled for a sandwich. lol  I never complain when he cooks, that would be foolish. LOL

    You're a smart woman, Jackie!

Actually I think there is a pizza stone you can use to put pizza on the grill, but I've never tried it.  I'm sure it tastes a lot like a brick-oven baked pizza.  I don't know about tarts, though.  I did try making cornbread on the grill once using a recipe from my Weber grill cookbook.  Let's just say it was a waste of ingredients and time...No

Same here and if my DH ever cooked up a tart like that, I'd be thrilled. His culinary skills are getting better but still pretty limited. Just to be on the safe side, I'm prepping and freezing a bunch of stuff before my surgery. Big Smile

Speaking of my surgery...my boss told me today that he'll be out of town the 2 wks leading up to it. I could've kissed him when he said that Stick out tongue
