Mindless Chatter, Thurzday

Are the coils something I should have them come clean each year or can that be prevented my monthly filter changes?

You shouldn't have to have the inside (evaporator) coil cleaned every year if you keep your filters clean, just make sure the filters fit well.  Having dogs and a cat I understand the hair issue all too well. :(  The outside unit has a coil too, the condenser, and it needs to be washed off every year or two depending on how dirty it gets.  You can do it yourself with a water hose.

Cathy, I hope Sassy sleeps better tonight and no storms.  Maybe it was the treats they sent home making her itchy.

Julie, Yellowstone!   Too cool.  I never get to take off during the summer, we're too busy at work.  But the times I can take off most places are less crowded so I guess it has it's advantages.

I am soo jealous of you guys who have A/C units.. I'll just sit here and melt thank you very much!

I got out of working outside due to giving myself heat stroke yesterday. *sigh* Lol. Works for me. It gives me a reason to clean the closet, give Sandy a bath and work on her training. Gonna try heeling next the wall to see if I can get her straight.

I didn't give her any and I wouldn't have thought they would've either. I was giving her Rimadyl the evening of her surgery and yesterday but I didn't give it to her today. She didn't seem to be in any discomfort and I thought it might've made her antsy last night. I'll be able to tell better tonight if it was that or not. I'll shoot myself if she develops a foot infection.

Was it the rimadyl chewables? Don't they come in a chewable? Maybe they have something in them she's allergic to.

OMG I am so jealous Jewliee is going to Yellowstone, I'd love to go! Just don't try and pee in Old Faithful ;)

That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm betting it's got some beef flavoring or something. They also sent home some CET chews. Any idea what those are made of? I probably won't take any chances with those either and just give them to Buffy.

We're supposed to have more thunderstorms tonight. I think I'll try earplugs if it's too bad. I really need a good night's sleep.

I cooked 2 huge artichokes last night but they finished up too late to eat them, so I'm having one tonight for dinner. Yum!!

I've been emailing a lady about a couch on craiglist, and made arrangements to see it and pick it up tomorrow.  She confirmed I was the first to inquire about it and would have first pick.  She emails me today and says that her husband sold it while she was out.  I'm so disappointed.  What sort of communication do they have that she didn't tell him that she had a buyer lined up?

The rest of the day has been long, and rather dull.  Same old routine.  I need a vacation.

Yesterday I worked. Today I babysat the neighbors kids. It wasn't a very exciting or eventful day at all. It's been rainy and gloomy all day, so I couldn't even take the kids outside. The dogs are bored and so am I. Hopefully the weather will clear up for the weekend. Not that I have much planned anyway. Tomorrow I have to clean out the rats' cage and maybe hit Wally World for some shopping. That's basically it! Hopefully on Saturday I can convince DH to go to the movie theatre with me. We'll see.

I had to call 3 different companies to get an AC man out here.  For a while, I thought I might have to find a man to call for me...lol!  Well, he put in a new capacitor to the tune of $224.  Later my son went online and found the thing for $40 (plus the $55 service call).  Methinks I won't be calling that company again!!!

Marty, depending on where you are in GA, I might know what company you're talking about, lol.  Does it start with an "S"?  Used them once and they were veeery expensive.  Anyhoo....the landlord for our office space says we should get an A/C person out to do an annual service check.  Jackie, I guess you're the one to ask...is this necessary?  It's working just fine for now.  Although, in another month it's going to do the same thing it does every year...linger at around 85 degrees.  It just doesn't seem to be able to get below that if it's above 90 outside.  It's prolly not the best unit, and it's old, and even though we, as tenants, are responsible for getting it serviced, I am NOT paying to replace the dang thing!

It was raining earlier, and I let Harry out a bit ago to do his thang, and he came back in covered in mud.  He rolled when I wasn't looking, the little bugger!  So, he got a bath, and then had some really nutty zoomies.  I freakin' love that dog.  Life has not been boring since the day we brought him home. Big Smile

No, Heather...I know this was a local family owned company which has been around for years.  Not any chain...and not beginning with S.

The South can be funny sometimes...

Gotta say that the weird thing was...when I called, I gave them the address and my name.   Then the repairman came, and he had a worksheet printed out, and it was printed out with my husband's name on it. and we had not used this company before....OK, but he passed away a year ago, and he did not call!!!

    Computers...scarey, sometimes!

Yes, it's a good idea to have it serviced.  Sometimes just the routine servicing can discover a condition that, once corrected, can really help the unit perform better.  Think of it like your car.  You really wouldn't expect your car to run forever without the occasional tune up and service and your a/c probably has much more running time on it than the average car if you live in a hot, humid climate.  I know it's hard to find a reputable company nowadays and that makes me so mad.  I've been in this business for over thirty years and some of the tactics I hear about just curl my toes.  We will never be a big, wealthy corporation but we all sleep good at night because we don't spend our days figuring out ways to rip off our customers. So many companies hire techs who are really just salesmen in disguise. :(
