But insted they had to contribute to the over population of pets.
Interesting, considering during the time I was at our shelter, I can't recall a single dog that had originated from a reputable breeder.
I have to agree. Reputable breeders take their pups back for life. And, frankly, not everyone wants to adopt from a shelter for various reasons, not the least of which is that they may be aging themselves, and are concerned for where the dog would go if they predecease it. I've rescued dogs all my life and bought only one. But, I can honestly say that, while I keep my dogs forever once I adopt them, I might be more inclined to rescue from a breed rescue that takes dogs back, rather than from a shelter that doesn't, or purchase from a reputable breeder, at this stage of my life -for the safety of the dogs should something happen to me. The key thing is to examine your lifestyle (for the next fifteen years) and part of the decision needs to hinge on things like whether you will be old, or whether you may move, or whether you plan a family, etc. Not everyone's needs are the same.
All that having been said, I find the show, and the people on it, insipid. I think that people's private lives, especially their arguments, should not be a matter for public consumption. It's unseemly.
