Oh thank God Chuffy....I just started reading this from the beginning...and was sitting on the edge of my chair thinking " I should just go right to the end...but was too engrossed to do that!"  I am SOOOO happy he is home.

That said...I also do not keep collars on my dogs while they are in the house...ever. In fact I  used to keep them on when I was home ( so I could take them out in a hurry without having to put the collar on ) but I would so worry when I go out that I might have forgotten to take their collar off....so now I pretty much don't ever leave it on. When we come in from being outside..the leash comes off first and the collar second. Its just second nature now.   Why....because my SIL has a brother that had two big dogs.....came home one day and the dogs didn't great them at the door....they ALWAYS do!  Turns out the two dogs were playing in the basement...one got their front foot stuck in the others collar....THAT dog was dead ( strangled ) and the other was still stuck in the collar. Made me see that I don't want anything around my dogs neck when I am not there to watch them.

So glad Max is safely home.  True, they do sound a bit batty, but at least they brought him in and were kind to him and hopefully now his urge to *go adventuring* is past. Big Smile

This is why I have breakaway collars for the dogs.

Same here, though we only really use them when a dog is crated or left alone with another dog.  If they are in separate rooms when we leave they wear regular collars that have prettier designs lol.

CHuffy - I completely missed this.  I am so glad he's back home, how scary!  What crazy neighbors!
