The Old Girl's Still Got It!

The Old Girl's Still Got It!

Sierras estimated birth was around mid-November, 2002 (I got her when she was about 5-6 weeks old). So that would make her around 3.5 years old by now.

So we were out for our walk, and we met a nice man who gave me the "is he a puppy?" question. It made me smile inside, as I told him that she's three and a half. He was quite surprised.
I guess the reason I'm so excited is because she hasn't gotten that comment in over 6 months now. I was starting to think it was gone for good.
Perhaps there's something about a tail-wagging, body-wiggling, excited ball of fur that makes people think - Puppy!!

Does anybody else get the "is that a puppy?" question with their (slightly) older dogs?

Go Sierra, people do that w/ Trixie too, she's a happy happy dog.
It means you are a great mommy!

Well I still get it quite a bit but Crusher is only a year old.  Actually in 3 days!

But I met a husky in Superpet shortly after I got Crusher.  It was such a beautiful dog.  I would have guesstamated her at about 2 or 3 years old.  Great teeth, gorgeous coat, perfect weight, the whole shebang!  She was 12!  Its nice to see people that take such good care of their animals that they stay looking young.

We used to get that with our lab mix, and she was 2 years old when we got her. Maybe it was because she was smaller than a full grown adult lab, she was 60lbs.

I get the "is he a puppy" question all the time with Bernie. In fact, I am more amazed if someone new does NOT ask me if he's a pup, lol!! Bernie is at best guess 3 years old, and while he doesn't necessarily act like a puppy, he never quite grew into his head and paws!! He also has a very pupp-like rounded muzzle. I love it!

You can kinda see how short and rounded his muzzle is in this picture. Definitely some of his boxer heritage coming through!

Ha!  Quite the opposite!  Someone called my lazy Jasmine "geriatric"  a few months ago.  Jasmine is one year old.  I was slightly offended, but oh well!

Sorry.  When I saw the title of this thread, I assumed it was going to be something about Glenda.  [:)]

OMG Billy [sm=rofl.gif] I hate to admit that the same thought actually did flash across my mind.

Yes! People do ask me if Bailey's a puppy. She's 2 and a half years old.

We're both gonna be in trouble.  Our moment of retribution is coming.  [:D]

From that sweet old lady? Nah! [sm=wink.gif] I'm sure plenty of people still ask Glenda if she is a puppy. [sm=tex.gif]

I have to say Bernie is quite the looker!  Sierra is beautiful as well.

Tell Jasmine she's in good company...  When I first came back from maternity leave someone saw the picture of my baby at my desk and told me I had a beautiful GRANDCHILD!  I was 28! [sm=eek.gif]

People are always asking if Joey is a pup.  He's 5.5.  They usually think he's a young lab.  I think it has a lot to do with his size, facial features and attitude.  Whenever he sees someone, he tucks his ears back, wags his whole back end and goes wiggling over to them, smiling.

I have just the opposite problem, I have a little Cairn and she's only 9 months, everyone thinks she's an older dog and should be more settled.  They will be surprised when she is older and still acts like a pup. (terriers always act like puppies)

I used to get that question all the time with Lucy.  It was a pretty regular question up until about a year or so before she crossed.
