Scary event just hitting me....(VM)

I am so glad that all of you are okay, your diving in that cold water may have cost you your life too.  Soooo scary, bless you all someone was looking after you.

OMG!  Wow...  I'm so glad that they made it!  BF and I had the dogs at the park over the winter and at the end of the dock, Kota thought the ice was solid so he jumped off.  BF had him on leash so was able to keep him from going under and then he grabbed his scruff and pulled him out.  It's so scary to see things like that happen.

Wow, I can't even imagine how scary that must have been for you.  I'm so glad everyone is okay!!  Silly Monroe, it's too cold to go swimming right now!!

    • Gold Top Dog

I would have been scared, too. Dogs generally have a higher core body temp than humans do which means they can survive the cold water just a little longer than we can but not forever and they can get tired and too cold. Releasing Morrison, even as an accident, might have been the key factor, like you said, for giving him his second wind, as it were.

Big ole goofy dogs - what are we going to do?

Thanks everyone... I knew you would get the panic and fear.  Needless to say, I did not sleep well last night and only a few doggy-type people at work understand.  The images just keep running through my head and most of my dreams had to do with telling DH that his dog was gone.

Monroe has a little redness on his belly, I'm guess it is fromt he edge of the ice, but other than that he is just fine.  I'm not sure if he learned any type of lesson but we aren't going to test the theory either.

It may not have bothered him too much, other than all that white stuff in the way of a good swim. So, he may not have learned his lesson.

Morrison, you are my hero!  Thank you so much for helping out your brother when he needed you the most.

I read this thread last night while Sassy was lying on my lap. Man, I was hugging her tight for a long time afterwards. I'm so glad they were both okay.

    • Gold Top Dog

How absolutely terrifying, I'm so glad that Morrison was able to help his brother get a second wind.  Give the dogs some extra scritches from me, I'm so glad that Monroe's ok!

I'm so glad everyone is OK !!!

How positively scary.  I am so glad the M&M boys are ok and your heart started beating again!

you account is extremely vivid....I also couldn't read it fast enough to make sure the outcome was that of joy instead of pain.

A dog we had once ran onto a pond with melting ice and DH and I were screaming at her to come back (she wasn't known for her reliability in returning promptly). Something made her turn around w/out going far and I hate to think of what would have happened if she had (other than DH being forced out there to get her).

Glad all was well - one sleepness night is nothing with such a good outcome for everyone.

I am sitting here with tears in my eyes.  I am so glad that you all are safe!  Lots of hugs from us to the boys!

How terrifying for you! I'm glad both the boys are back home and alright.

Good Boy Morrison!  Way to look out for your brother.

I've had a couple very near misses with animals in the past so I know the dreadful panicked feeling.
