Mindless Chatter Thursday

Holy BABY!  How exciting!  You'll do what needs doing because you'll HAVE to do what needs doing.

Please don't pin all your hopes on this one mom though.  Just in case.  Pregnant women are hormonal as heck and being in the situation of needing to give up her child, I'm sure she's even more so than most.

Nice here today.  Overcast, but warm for NW MI in Feb, but we've got a storm coming in tonight that's supposed to dump 10 inches before it moves along.  Crud.

Went out yesterday to organize my deep freeze and discovered that my "landlady" has been helping herself, yet again.  This is really starting to tick me off.  And when I ask her about it she swears it isn't her.  Must be my DS.  Yeah.  Right. DS tells me anytime he takes something out of the freezer AND I'm finding the packaging HIDDEN in the trash, not just thrown out, but HIDDEN.  I hate being lied to almost as much as I hate being stolen from.

My BF has been letting the dogs run around the yard in the mornings, but lately bella squeezes out one of the multiple holes in the fence to go romp in the land behind out house, Usually I see her out there & make her come back in. This morning she figured out how to go through the neighbors yard & get out onto the street, so i'm washing dishes & hear her barking. I look up & she's attempting to chase the FedEx truck, almost getting hit in the process. I immediately called her in & she came to the door, but I'm like 'wth'? I got out back & my BF is walking around the yard & I inform him that his dog almost got ran over.  He said he was out looking for her. I made it clear to him that if she's loose in the yard she needs to be supervised since she doesn't understand the rules. She needs her recall worked on BADLY! she barely comes to us. So that's another project I need to do.

Another one of those days I love Akyra, I'm totally blessed with her, she stays in the yard, she follows me constantly in the house & is always in sight. and she comes when called.

Congrats amanda!!! How exciting! I'm so happy for you. I hope this birth mom works out.

Tonight is our meeting with the doggy behaviourist (sp?). I have to do a mad house clean up as soon as I get home! The place is a disaster!

I'm packing up my office to move to the new building. Its as fun as it sounds. I also need to clean off my computer. I wish it had a dvd burner. It would be so much easier. I will have to bring my external hd in tomorrow. Oh crap, I packed the cord away lol

Congratulations Amanda! That must be soooo exciting!

I'm pretty happy its almost Friday. I live for the weekends. I get to see my maid of honour this weekend! That means Saturday night will be filled with martinis. He makes a fabulous martini. I also get to meet his new BF again. I've met him once, but really...I was rather intoxicated. Heh.

I've decided that owning a house and responsibility are not all they cracked up to be. I would really like to be able to get up and go wherever I want, without all this planning.

I laugh when some people say 'i wanna buy a house' LOL, yes it has advantages. But sometimes it really sucks when stuff breaks & you have to fix it. or pay even more to have someone else come out & do it.

Amanda I am so excited for you!!  Trust me, the only thing you need right away are a bunch of onies, a bouncy seat, diapers and bottles.  Everything else can come afterward.  But it's true, you can get everything in one big trip to the store.  If you can't find a crib you like you can get a bassenette and that will fit the little one for a while (Riley was in hers for almost two months)...she just looked so tiny in her big crib!  WHHEEE  I am soo excited for you!  Everything crossed that the meeting goes well.

Geez.  She really has nerve, doesn't she?  Put a padlock on the freezer and tell her that stuff has been missing and since it isn't her, and you know it isn't your DS either, some random person must be wandering through and taking stuff. Since *it isn't her* she won't mind not having a key.

Wow, congrats Amanda! I hope it goes well.

Not much going on here. We're supposed to get a huge snowstorm today, but so far we don't even have a dusting!

I finally got a cell phone. DH bought me a TracFone, just for emergencies.

Congrats Amanda!!  I hope it goes well for you ;)

DH and I applied for pre-approval for a mortgage today... keep your fingers crossed that it matches our price range!  If not, we'll put it off for a year or two, but we're itching to get that tax break!

And even if you do have some headaches of homeownership, it's no picnic renting either.... darn landlord and having to call them dozens of times to fix things just isn't fun either.

I really HATE pumping!.... but I love breastfeeding so I do it!  All day though while I pump I keep singing in my head "Pumping while I work, doo doo doo doo doo doo doo" (to the tune of whistle while you work).....that or the dang songs from the carseat bar along with all the ribits and boings I mimic to try to get a laugh with!

     That is all....

Congratulations Amanda!  Wow, only a month away, how exciting!

DH filed our taxes today.  The refund is big, and we're eagerly plotting what we're going to do with it.  We're thinking putting half of it in a Roth IRA, using some to build a new fence (woohoo!!!!), and saving/using some of the rest to do house projects.  DH also suggested putting a little bit into two savings accounts, one for "Dog Show Expenses" (does he know me or what?), and the other will be an animal emergency fund.  Exciting!

Congrats, Amanda!!! It was Bevo's storytime that won them over, wasn't it? Big Smile

I mentioned the disappearing stuff once.....pasties and chicken florentine in phyllo, both stuff she LOVES and inhales faster than usual.  She blamed it on "neighborhood kids".  Yeah, they're gonna take stuff like that and leave the ice cream?  I HAD a padlock on the shed but it kept getting frozen.  Sigh.  Guess I'll have to pick up one of those types that has a protective cover and can't freeze.  It's incredibly annoying and since she eats like a horse, I really am not happy having my freezer raided.  Not when she blows money like it's nothing and I scrimp for every saved penny.

Bevo did win the social worker over at storytime.  If he hadn't put in a great performance, we might not have been approved.

We aren't gettting our hopes up.  I talked to our potential birth mother this evening, & she seems like a great woman.  After talking to her, I don't think that we are going to be the family that she's looking for.  DH is still very optimistic.  I am being more realistic, as I realize that this woman is looking for a family with prior parenting experience.  Unless you count the dogs, we don't fit that criteria.  I do feel good that we looked good enough on paper for her to consider us even though we don't already have kids.  I guess that time will tell.

DH & I are officially getting old.  We cooked dinner two nights in a row.  We eat out, A LOT, so cooking two nights straight is huge for us.  We also bought a coffee maker last week, & we've been making coffee at home.  It's really kinda scary.

I hope she realizes that prior parenting experience does not necessarily make for good parenting. Even the "Mother of the Year" was a first time parent once. Good luck!!
