So... there's this cat

I dunno!  It's easier to home kittens than it is a littler of puppies!  Hopefully it's just normal old roundworms.

     Keep it, keep it!!

hmm off season for kittens too I think...they seem to explode around Spring tho queens can cycle and do all year around...it's rarer to see small small kittens in winter...so hopefully it's some other issue. Is her belly firm or flabby? Look under the tail...easy enough if you see a : then it's male...if they have testicles that's usually easy to see too, if you see an upside down ! it's female.

Tee-hee! Gina's vet school of punctuation!!

Hope the cat works out. It was certainly nice of you to take him/her in and give her refuge for a while. That's how my dad got one of his cats - the poor thing walked right up to a window and started caterwauling to get let in - and my dad considered him the "best" cat he'd ever had (and he had cats most of his life).

If he sticks around, though, do make sure to have him tested for things like FIV... sadly, an outdoor life leaves them susceptible to a lot of cat-specific but contagious illnesses. Sad

I haven't gotten that close. I'm a little allergic to cats, and some are worse than others. This one makes my skin burn. Ouch! It's so cute. This morning, it was laying on the little bed I left it, and wanted breakfast!

Ouch :( Wish I were closer and in a position to take the little bugger. BF wants a cat sooooo badly! Keep us posted on how the little creature is doing. I hope you find his/her home!

If I remember my cat genetics properly, it's probably a girl. I believe the gene for color is on the X chromosome, and the only way to get two colors (calico) that aren't variations of the same color (ie. tabby) is to have two X chromosomes that have two different codes for different colors (orange and black). White is just caused by the gene not being activated in certain places. Now that I have said this... I want to know what causes the Torti color...

Anyway, in answer to what some people do when cats show up at their door. Some people feed them, name them Cookie, and think they are pregnant. (That was my very fat cat named Rob, before he moved up the street.) Hopefully your's isn't pregnant and you find his/her home soon!

Sounds like this kitty picked you out.  Welcome home kitty.  Wink  Whatcha going to name her?

    • Gold Top Dog

The cat gets no name, LOL. It does get a bath, though, in a little while, so I can touch it without wanting to scream.

    • Gold Top Dog

Ut oh, kitty bath! Your a groomer so I'll spare you the warnings Stick out tongue

    • Gold Top Dog

Yeah, we'll be fine! I'll trim it's nails BEFORE spraying it with diluted shampoo, LOL.

    • Gold Top Dog

So, thaaats why my arms look like I stuck 'em in a wood-chipper! Stick out tongue LOL, that's what I'll do next time the little stinkers need a bath!

    • Gold Top Dog

I mix the shampoo before I touch the cat, then I make a figure 8 harness with a kennel lead, on the cat. I trim it's nails, and put it in a DRY tub. This seems to be key. No running  water, dry tub. I squirt it down with shampoo, work it into the coat. I wrap the cat up in a towel, and put it in a kennel to soak. After however long I decide it needs to soak. I put the harness back on, clip the cat to  the tub, and rinse it off. They hate that part.
