Bark Avenue Invitation

Does anyone have any ideas of things to add to the grand opening to make it more exciting?  Do you guys think it's beneficial (or irritating) to have vendors there advertising there products and doing giveaways of there own?  (obviously ones that are not my direct competition)
    • Gold Top Dog
The only problem I can see with vendors is some of them are way too pushy and really annoying.  I like talking to reps, but I'll tell ya, every Nutro rep I've even met is a horses hind end.  But, it's always cool to have more chances to win, IF you can get reps that know how to behave in public.

One of the things I enjoy the most about dog shows (besides winning of course [:D]) Is the vendors that are there selling and giving away their items as samples, you have a choice to walk past them if it isn't something your personally interested in or take the item and donate to a local shelter

Maybe I just attract pests.  Ever tried to walk past a Nutro rep??  They chase AFTER you!

What about having *ahem* the forum sponsor (hint Jaime) there?  Maybe dog.com can spare a rep?

Are you doing any collecting for your local shelter at this event?  I'm thinking food & other supplies and perhaps cash donations for, say, the recipe those yummy liver treats printed up on 3 x 5 cards to hand out?

Aside to Glenda: since Mic is a trainer, maybe he can teach a sit/stay to the Nutro reps, eh?

I would love to have dog.com as the sponsor of the event...hint...HINT!

As far as rescue related ideas, currently I am having a little adopt-a-thon.  I am inviting "Purebred Rescue Organization".  They are where I got my most recent dog (a St. Bernard) from.  They are going to bring about 15-20 dogs for adoption.

    That should be fun.

I will try to keep the vendors to a minimum.  I would like to find some more obscure vendors (nutro vendors are a dime a dozen around here).  Maybe some one from eagle pack or innova.  Any specific suggestions will be great.  I was thinking maybe the busydogball people.

    Thanks for the ideas.

Oh, that was the other thing I meant to ask, about the "Greeter" dog.  So you went with a Saint - where's the pic?
    • Gold Top Dog
I think having the busy ball people would be great ideal. I still haven't got one and I would rather see one in person. I think having Jamie there would be wonderful too! HINT HINT

Maybe a few more vendors that sell dog toys because lets face it you can never have enough dog toys! Health dog treats and maybe if we can find someone that has a nice cookbook for dogs with meals or treats in it.

Ok I'm out of suggestions for now.

Jaime is certainly invited to come.  Does dog.com do any kind of promotional event?

Pictures are coming of Lincoln very soon.

how about a microchip or rabies clinic? Or you get the city to come do licenseing on the spot? Search & Rescue or K-9 demo? How about a look alike dog/owner contest or an Identi-Kid booth (wherer the police photograph and fingerprint your kids for safety) Any of those ideas would really grab some attention.

I love going to Dog Days and the Bark in the Park (local events here). The vendors and displays are fun. I have seen Royal Canin, Innova, Canidae, Purina, Bio Spot, etc all come out. Even ran into a Kong rep (they were offering 2nds to the local shelters and selling all the Kong products at a discount)

When youopen up aplace in Va let us know - we promise to be first in line! Sopunds like a great event - Good Luck!!!

I think there was a rep from Innova at the Philly Fit festival, which coincidentally does not actually take place in Philly, but rather in Bucks County at a health club that is a few minutes from me. I didn't go, but I'm pretty sure I remember an Innova sample and coupon in with all that stuff my mom brought back.

Thanks for the ideas guys.  Jaime, any word on dog.com promos!  I am always in need of spnsorship. ;-)

Are there any interior decorators or contractors here on Idog.
    • Gold Top Dog
    ok...apparently no interior decorators....

How about any ladies with a good sense of style.  I am trying to design my new loft apartment and need some ideas.  I really do NOT want to pay someone to tell me what furniture to buy, but if I do it...well...that probably won't go well.
    • Gold Top Dog
OK, I'll bite.  I've got a pretty good style sense.
