I had my dog shaved- was this wrong?

People also have to take into consideration the climate the breed was originally created in.  A Siberian Husky's coat in Alaska certainly has far different weather conditions  to insulate from than a dog living in Florida. Many working/herding breeds originally had a far different coat when they were strictly working animals.  Compare the coat of working Collies years ago, before they became heavily coated 'Lassie' dogs. Compare Aussies from working lines with those from more show geared lines. There's a big difference

    Fabulous tail, Patton!

Could you see his spots when his hair was long? Or only after shaving?
I think I'd discover that Ixa's merle if I shaved her.

I adopted a Samoyed from the pound once and even though he was bathed he was a mess, had him shaved  ( he loved it) grew back beautifully never had a problem, just had to be carful in the sun for awhile. I would do it again if the dog was misirable and I wasn't worried about later showing the dog. I had a Newf overheat and die, to this day I wish I had shaved him too.

My short haired pit bull suffers more in the heat than my double coated lab.....

Wow, he's pretty!  I think he looks quite handsome shaved!  Is he a GSD/ACD mix?  What a cool coat pattern!

Thanks!!! [:D] Yeah, when we first got him my boyfriend and I would catch each other staring at the dog from across the room and then start laughing because we honestly couldn't decide if we thought he was really cute or really funny looking. We decided he was really cute. [;)]  He is very unique , thats for sure! But he is my heart and soul! I don't know if he's got GSD in him. His head and tail are very similar in regards to that breed...

Patton says thank you. [:D]  His tail was brushier before the cut. It was like a big fox tail. So cute.

I honestly think his spots were more obvious before the cut.

    Thanks Jennie!
As a groomer, do you think it's too short? I think you can tell it's not quite down to the skin. We've been keeping his walks at 7am and his evening walks at 7:30pm or later to make sure he is staying out of the sun and the humidity dies down as much as possible. However, The inside of this hind legs are almost completely skin and I am trying so hard to remember if they were like that before but I am quite sure they weren't.
