I remembered a non-driving one, but still a brain fog one.

I was at a flyball tourney and it was first thing in the morning.  A morning person, I am not.

There was a guy with a bunch of pastries and coffee set up right outside the door.  The coffee was free and he was giving it out.

For some reason, I interpreted that to mean that EVERYTHING was free.  I picked up a pastry, opened it, and ate it while continuing to chat with him.

He dropped SEVERAL HINTS that I could pay up any time.  but there were no price tags and he was way too subtle for that time of day.  I finished my pastry, thanked him and walked off.

Later, much later, it hit me and I ran back to where the booth was.  But he was gone, packed up, and I never saw him again.

I can't imagine how crazy I must have looked.  It makes me blush to think of it today, almost ten years later.   I have never confessed this to anyone, it's so embarrassing still.  Dude, if you are out there somewhere - I will gladly pay you for the pastry, with interest!
