No, you are not alone.  That woman is vile [:'(] and I feel bad for her dog.  She is obviously not a true dog person.

Granted, I'll never get the "kid thing" (can't stand them, myself), but I can't even imagine turning on your beloved dog like that.

I agree with you - however it that very sentiment that spured the reason for my now having Scooter, who entered my life just a short 2 yrs before having Lady PTS and his love that got my past that

can we have a rough summary?

Woman has dog. Woman tolerates dog though fools herself into thinking that's "love". Woman has baby. Woman now wants nothing to do with dog. The end.

In my mind, I called her SO many names I can't express here.

    Seriously, wtf?

lady gets basset hound for WEDDING GIFT (who does THAT??) and loves it to pieces until the baby comes along, and the essay is effectively about her resentment towards the dog.  It's called "demoting the dog" and I found it disgusting, in particular the part where she said the bit about "i just don't have room in my world for the dog anymore."  WHAT??? how SMALL is your world?  you single-minded, small-hearted human!!  that dog looks to you for leadership and love, and you have abandoned him.  sad.

BUT.  I don't have kids, so maybe I'm way off base here.  Chuffy and the others with new babies DID come to mind, and though I do have a strong opinion, I was sorta hoping they might weigh in and tell me I'm crazy[&:]

do you think if she has another child the first one will get demoted to "nuisance" too?

or will all children in her life get demoted - this one & the new ones?

I really think he's a bother to her because she didn't train him properly in the first place. If she had taught him to hush up on command, or not to climb up on furniture unless invited, or done better with the potty training, she would not have these problems.

All of the things she complains about are her own fault. I feel so very sorry for her dog.

You know, I wondered the same thing.

It's terrible.  Honestly, I really feel sorry for the poor dog.  The dog may not have been dumped at a shelter, but it has still been abandoned.  That article made me feel sad.

And honestly, she should have trained the dog.  It's HER fault...yet she blames it on the dog.
