McCain on SNL

    McCain on SNL

Anyone catch it? I thought there were some really, really funny moments!! Seems like a bad idea to downtalk his own campaign right now, though!

    "I'm a real maverick - a Republican without money!"

Here's one place to see some of it, if you missed it: http://www.watchfreeepisodes.com/obama-biden-mccain-on-snl-november-1-2008-watch-show-videos-watch-saturday-night-live-11-01-2008-show-online-if-obama-biden-or-mccain-appear/4272/

I haven't watched any of the candidates on there. I really wish they'd take the job seriously.

They can show their sense of humor...real or written for them...in other ways. That show to me...isn't the place for Presidential candidates.

I know we Americans love to poke fun at them and it's our right to do so...but to me..there's so much serious issue stuff out there that they need to show me they can do more about it than laugh. I don't need my President to be funny...I need him or her, to do their job, take it seriously, and give the Country back some dignity in the eyes of the world.

Thanks for sharing that, Cita. I know some are going to criticize McCain for speaking some of his stuff from SNL. Obama has spent 3 times the campaign money including a well made tv spot on several networks. So, I think, fair is fair and each got their tv coverage. And I like that McCain has a sense of humor, mostly about himself. Some may consider that he is not taking this seriously enough. I woud differ on that. But I thought Fey was great with Palin in 2012. I would vote for her (Palin or Fey. I think it's the glasses.)

ETA: Others beat me to the first reply. Oh well, it still stands. Peace out.

I'm not voting for McCain but I enjoyed the SNL skit and laughed out loud at the 'pork' knives!  I thought he did a good job injecting some  light-hearted humor into his campaign which has been so horribly negative.

I agree that the position of President is no laughing matter. However, I do appreciate the attempts to remind us that the candidates are still human. Especially with all the mud-slinging that goes along with politics, a few light-hearted moments here and there seem to restore some public goodwill towards the campaigns, and of course towards the candidates. Wink

Didn't mean to stir up ill will, I just thought I'd share something I found funny. I know we'll all be relieved to be done with all this come Wednesday!

I thought that it was hilarious!  I appreciate a person, republican or democrat, who can poke fun at themselves.

I totally get why some people dig it, so don't take my post wrong...many like to think a Pres is not so very different from themselves...put their pants on one leg at a time etc. Just speaking for myself personally, I don't care how funny they are...humor is more likely to start an arguement with, or insult to, a foreign leader than make them smile if we did the math I am sure LOL.

I want them to represent me and relate to the world...with some dignity, respect, and etc. Shrub has been around so long I forget what it's like to have a Pres that can stand up straight and speak without mispronounciation, stuttering, arrogance or whining.

I am so ready for him to be gone...*sigh*

*sad that he'll probably end up living 30 mins from me...barf!*

Pres Bush used to live on the same street as the in-laws from my first marriage. It was a standard experience to be followed by police and unmarked govt. suburbans until you got out of the car and went into the house. The guys in those suburbans wore oddly bulging windbreakers in summertime. The Pres now lives in Crawford on a ranch, bordered by that of Ted Nugent, who also now lives in Texas, having moved from Michigan.

I would imagine he might stay at the ranch. I had not heard that he might move to Cowtown but I imagine he can live wherever he wants to live. In fact, he might move just to get a little peace and quiet.

Wasn't his first turn on SNL, this one is even funnier.  Or creepier.

In the related videos, there's one from Hot TV comparing the appearances of Obama, Clinton, and McCain. McCain had the funniest material. However, for the lead-in phrase "Live ... from New York ... it's Saturday Night!" Obama had the best delivery. He has a perfect voice with just the right timing. I liked Hillary's, too. She put so much force into it that her voice cracked.

I apologize if my comment made you feel badly for sharing.

I'm just so burnt out with this election, and so sick of the BS and horse pukey that I want to puke.  So nothing amuses me at this point.  However, once it's OVER, I may get a good chuckle out of the link.

No worries, Mrs. Secret Santa. Everyone gets their say, for or against. And I am most specifically not going to debate, at least in these last few threads today. Everyone can speak their mind and we can all rejoice in our freedom of speech. And believe or not, my initial post had no idea that you and one other were already posting while I was composing. It was just serendipity or irish luck, pick your choice. Hence, the ETA. You're still a doggy angel.

I've heard people say that one of the reasons they voted for him was  because he seemed like he'd be fun at a barbecue. Big Smile Just ask him to bring the beer.

My dear, you are far from alone in those feelings!! Just imagine what the candidates and their families must be feeling right now... lol.

    Three cheers for Wednesday!
