Mindless Chatter - Weekend

    Mindless Chatter - Weekend

DW has today and tomorrow off. We really enjoy having time off together. Her retail schedule doesn't always allow for that.

We might make it to the arts and crafts fair in Plano. We certainly want to get down to the Vitamin Shoppe and get some stuff. We will probably due some pork spare ribs in the slow cooker, today or tomorrow. And I'm ready for another haircut. DW used to cut hair for a living and she is willing to do it for me. My cold is diminishing rapidly. I need to wash the cars and finish cleaning out half of the garage.

It was 48 F this morning. Approaching nirvana. There's no day that's too cold for Shadow. The only time I have seen him get in his dog house is when it is throwing down sleet, which hurts while snow doesn't.

October is flitting by in a hurry.

And (this is non-partisan) I've checked and ensured that we are registered to vote. Please, everyone, check your own status and then go vote, whatever your conscience is. It is a right bought for you by a legacy of strong, independent people and you can honor that legacy by voting, even if you write in Frank Zappa or Kinky Friedman.

    Peace, Love, and Understanding.

My house is so dusty! I dusted the tv and stand, cleaned picture frames and computer. Plenty of laundry to do and vacuuming! Lily is helping Ben load up the truck with firewood out back. 2 1/2 hours until my tattoo appointment. I'm so nervous and excited!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I took some pictures of what leaves we do have left, the rest are all on the ground.

    Ah, the weekend.

We've already gotten our absentee ballots in the mail, so we're good. Some people feel like voting absentee isn't the same as going to the polling place, but I love being able to sit down and really think over my choices in the privacy of my home.

DH left for work this morning and I won't see him now until Monday when I get off work. Sad Today is our 7th anniversary but we celebrated last night. DH bought me 2 dozen red and yellow roses and they're beautiful.

It's cool and a little cloudy this morning but is supposed to be 80 at some point today, so that'll be nice.

The termite dude came by to do his yearly inspection (no termites here!) and discovered that the water heater is leaking and pretty rusted at the bottom.  I called  the plumber, thinking that I'd have to run to Home Depot and order a new one for about $300 and get him to pick it up for me before installation.  HA!  Seems like Davis has this building code that all newly installed water heaters have to be self-insulated to R-16 (no thermal blanket needed) so the plumber ordered it and had it delivered.  By the time I got the city permits, paid for heater, installation and city inspection I was out $1,075 Crying but at least I know I'm not going to run out of hot water on the first freezing day in January. The old one was 25 years old, so I guess that's not too bad.

    Happy Anniversary!

DH and I received our new voter registration cards yesterday, so we're good to go.  Today's weather is excellent, 70's and clear.  I'm taking the dogs for a good long walk now, because they're going absolutely insane today.  They've been wrestling hardcore since 9am, only interrupted by breakfast and some time in the backyard.  They've been so generous as to allow me to take pictures of them non-stop, as I got my new camera yesterday!  I picked the Canon Powershot because it has everything I need, and is pretty user-friendly.  I love it!  My old camera had definitely reached the end of its life, and it's so nice to see pictures of the dogs that aren't blurry or have weird exposure.  I'll probably be making a post in the Photos section later today when I get home from work.

Happy anniversary. I get a kick out of people being married and celebrating that. DW's parents will be celebrating 62 years of marriage this coming January.

We're not doing a lot today. I've got pork spare ribs in the slow cooker with homemade barbecue sauce. Later, I will bake some sweet potatos to go with them.

We stayed up really late (for us) last night.  DH was "doing a run on WOW" and I was watching a movie and chatting with friends on the phone.

Today I went to Agility class #1, without Morrison, and had my hair cut.  It was lovely and included a shoulder and neck massage - it's really the only way I do stuff like that as I don't do massage or mani/pedi stuff.

Going to bed early tonight as I am playing in church tomorrow morning and want to be there at 7:15.  I'll sleep well tonight as I didn't sleep in this morning and M&M and I had a great jaunt at the park while DH was at a Dr. Who thing.

Edited to add:  Yes, we really are that geeky!

Hey, at least you are waking up early for fun stuff, M & M! I have to get up early tomorrow - 6:30 eeek! - so that I can walk the dog before I go to work at 7:30.

It is an AWESOME night in Florida - the kind of night that gets us Floridians through the sticky summer. There's a cool breeze and you could pretend that fall is coming. Too bad it'll only last for a weekend!

So your DH is a WOW guy too?  Mine is desperate for Wrath of the Lich King to come out, so he can have even more fun times raiding. Geeked

    Happy Anniversary, Cathy!

It has been a busy day!

This morning, Shooter did a meet & greet for Dachshund Rescue.  He was awesome!  I am so proud of him.  He was so happy to get to meet everyone there, & he was so relaxed even when he was being heavily crowded.  He just wagged happily, & gave out kisses.  Some days he's such a little charmer.

Then I went to a baby shower for a friend.  I really hate going to baby showers.  They are horribly boring, & this one was no exception.  I entertained myself by playing with another friend's baby.  He's five months old, & absolutely adorable.  I know that DH & I are planning to wait until next spring to try to get pregnant again, but after playing with him, I have what can only be described as baby fever.  I hope that it wears off quickly...

Tonight, I went & watched my UT Longhorns kick Missouri's butts!  The first half was a great game.  The second half wasn't as great.  The Horns played most of their second & third string players, so it wasn't nearly as exciting.

Tomorrow should be a little calmer.  I did promise Bevo & Chyna, if Bev is getting around ok, I would take them for a stroll around the pet festival that is going on this weekend.  They both love going, so I hope that we can go.

LOL - that is all I have heard about for weeks now from both my DH and my boss!

At times I have considered myself to be a WOW-widow.  He has gotten much better about spending his time with me and M&M as well as WOW.

I used to consider myself that too!  Sometimes DH can get SO involved in WOW, it's like nothing else even enters his mind.  It used to upset me more when we first moved in together (before we had the dogs), but he's better now.  But there's always some special Sword-of-Infinite-Power-Shock to get on a drop, isn't there? Wink

Sunday was ok.  Work wasn't too bad, and DH and I got to spend some time together this evening, which was nice.  It was a pretty calm weekend as far as things go.  I hope the weather stays nice and cool, though, the dogs love it!  I'm hoping to get them to the dog park in the next few days.

Willow got a Fido Fleece to wear today!  It's really cute, little bones on it.  She's lost a lot--a real lot--of her top coat and she actually didn't even get a winter coat in at all due to her medication.  So, it's cute but necessary.  She is NOT happy about wearing it at all.  I have to make it a positive by making her realize we are going out once she puts it on.  But, this wearing clothes thing isn't for her.

DH and DS#2 went hiking at Ape Cave this weekend (named for sightings of Bigfoot).  DS#1 had to work, so he staye dhome with me. I rna errands yesterday and we got sub snadiwches last night for dinner. Yum!

Today, I did chores and went to the shelter.  I can't walk dogs right now, much to my frustration, because I have tendonitis in my knees.  I steppe dup on the porch yesterday and heard/felt a giant "pop!" which nearly had me ON my knees from the pain.  I can't pivot on my lef tknee either.  What a pain--literally.

I took a nap since it feels like I am getting a cold.  I don't get them very often, but they are NASTY when they finally settle in.  I also made homemade mac and cheese with ground turkey, mushrooms and onions.  We added green beans and called it good. Now, if only all the aches and pains would go away...

Ron, your ribs sound yummy!  DS#2 asked me to ask for the recipe.
