Cross stitch question

    Cross stitch question

I used to cross stitch when I was in High school. Well actually my grandma made me. Lol. BUT! I found some of her old projects and I've picked them back up again.

Now. is there anywhere on the net where I can get print outs of pictures to transfer to the fabric? My local sewing store doesn't carry the plans anymore. Which sucks cuz they had a large Wolf scene I wanted.

I'm going to town at the end of the month to see if the sewing store there has them but if I can find pictures on here that'd be great.

Well, there are some freebies you can download from different designers. Some are just little pieces, others larger. I wish I knew what are you looking for or what is your taste, but I can send you some links, hope you will enjoy them:

    I love to cross stitch!!!!

My favorite cross stitch website is www.123stitch.com.  Michaels and Joann have both, IMO, drastically reduced their stock on patterns.  They still carry the floss, so I usually buy only floss from them.  But patterns...horrible selection.

On this site, you can order patterns, books, kits, and fabric.  I just got a pattern from them for making Harry a Christmas stocking.  I just finished the stitching, now I'm making a second one for my brother's dog, and then I'll sew them into actual stockings.

Here's a picture from the website, of course, the one I made says "Harry" at the top:

It goes along nicely with the ones I made last year for myself and BF.  Here they are:

This is the one I made for me, but it says "Heather" instead of the name on the pic:

And this is the one I made for BF, with his name, Dan, at the top:

I got an Australian Cattle Dog pattern off of this site, because I liked the detail best:

That's a beautiful design!  I found a book with dog breeds, and they are really pretty patterns.  Apparently there are about 10 books in the series, each one has several different breeds.  I bought the version recently that has an Italian Greyhound pattern.  It's simple, but pretty, and actually once the book arrived, I found out they have two versions of the same pattern-one tan IG and one grey one.  One of my coworkers has greys and IGs, and has been having some medical issues lately, so I thought I'd make her something to lift her spirits a bit.  I was originally looking for a greyhound pattern, but the ones I found were all racing pics, so I went with the IG pattern.  If you go to that link I posted earlier in the thread, and enter "dog" in the search field, they have tons of different breeds, and some of them are quite pretty.

Before I left NH, I was working on a Doberman one that came from a pattern book.  Some time in the move, I lost the pattern (probably packed somewhere in the storage unit.)  Damn if I cannot find the pattern book anywhere - I got it from a Hardware-turned craft store... Ace/Ben Franklin back in NH.  *sigh*...

In the Miribilia patterns I have......#03( current work ), #13 (almost positive), #22 and my sister has #30.

I also have a TON of older cross stitch books and patterns I could ruffle through. I will post what I have later when I get home.

Wow, I can't believe so many folks on here cross stitch!  I kinda felt like it was an "old lady" hobby.  At least, that's what my BF would joke about, until he saw the first completed one I did (I did a lot in high school, but didn't pick it up again until about 4 years ago).  Then he was pretty impressed.  But, yay, fellow cross stitchers galore!!!

sweet!  I guess I gotta get cracking on mine so that the dog actually LOOKS like a dog.  Right now it's just splotches of black and grey...

I want to learn to cross stich just so I can make this!

I used to do a lot of it...eyes not doing so good now.  I first started out with crewel, which I liked better, but did cross stitch when the craze hit.

Here is my favorite piece...gotta say that Hub never thought of it as art, but I had a different opinion and have it over my fire place.
