    1.  I can't catch a break on getting Ari dog training

Sharon - what does this mean?  Have you checked out Fortunate K9?  www.fortunatek9.com - that was my trainer in NH - she's based out of Derry right now, and is fantastic.

She's about 1 1/2 hours out from where we live - I will see if she does weekends (and if my SO willingi for traveling that far - I really want him to be involved in the process as well - and he does as well - and I forsee him having big issues traveling that far).  My problem is outside of Petco no one runs group classes - and we missed 2 opportunities for puppy classes at Petco for Ari due to her injuring her leg and the second time was for surgery!  Now she's too old for puppy classes there - and to be frank training in the middle of a busy store I don't think will be much fun with how Ari is.  I think we need to work up to distractions not throw her into one of the most distracting environments possible.

I've been looking into then, b/c groups are no go, a private trainer.  The trainer I really wanted isn't available when we are sadly :(  a guy he recommended might not work out due to my work schedule (I really need someone evenings after work - or weekends, I manage a small office so it's not easy for me to leave work early).  My So schedule is much more flexible - unfortunately mine is not.

I've contacted several other trainers in the area (within a 45 minute commute) with no responses, I'll be calling a couple places today.  One I did talk to I didn't care for over the phone (hard to explain just one of those feelings you get, I wasn't comfortable on the phone with her - (I realize we are STILL working on biting issues with Ari but please do not speak to me condescendingly about something I cry about at home!).

I do like Fortune K9's information/philosophy so I will see about that.  It'll be a hard sell though to the SO.

Well, if it's any help, she has people who travel that distance every week for several years now, just because the training is that good.  And in particular, I find that men REALLY respond to her training philosophy and communication style.  Sometimes, training is relegated to us women and getting through to the men can be somewhat of an obstacle.  I have observed hundreds of her training sessions (I used to work with her)- the men walk out of their first session nodding their heads in agreement, enlightenment and, most importantly, EXCITEMENT to train their dogs.

I get the impression you are probably further north, since east, west or south by an hour and a half would pretty much put you outside the state.  Have you checked out Cindy Eliason at Cherry Mountain Kennel - http://www.cherrymountainkennel.com/?  She is often busy, but that is because she is good.  Julia refers people to Cindy and vice versa.  She's up in Whitefield.

I talked to the SO and he was willing to consider it - but tis a moot point b/c we managed to work out an acceptable time with a trainer locally!  I'm so flipping excited.

And yes we are further north.
