Hopefully we can have an open discussion and share our opinions on the debate last night, without a lot of rancor? What did everyone think?
It's not a secret that McCain isn't my pick, so it should come as no surprise that I saw things that made me like him less. The constant name dropping, the constant "I've been there" (which made me wonder how much time he spent serving his constituents when he was spending so much time overseas). His smirking also annoyed the tar out of me, and I had to wonder if someone told him to smile so danged much while O'Bama was speaking. Kind of a grandfatherly type smile as the little ones made a total mess of something......that's how I read it anyway. I saw his facial expressions as disrespectful to his opponent. And, of course, he held that "POW" stuff until his final volley, but he didn't want anyone to forget that he had served his country.
However, I thought O'Bama calling him John, fairly frequently instead of addressing him more formally was a little disrespectful. I did think that O'Bama was less inclined to dance around answering questions and I liked that he seemed not to have to play the politician "I'm glad you asked that question" sort of thing when hit with a question he wasn't likely sure of. In my opinion, McCain did a fair amount of that.
Win, loose or draw? The CNN polls I saw seemed to indicate that O'Bama won the debate, but I'm not sure that it was that clear cut. What does everyone think?
Nicely please?
