Hi everyone and THANK YOU ALL so much for your warm, nice messages and thoughts!! I appreciate them A LOT. I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner, I have been extreeeemely busy. Well, the vet decided not to do x-rays since it came on so quick but did run a thyroid panel and blood tests. Yesterday they called to let us know that his thyroid panel came back with lower levels than normal (I'm not sure what specifically), but at this point it is not anything life-threatening. Also, in his blood test they found something wrong with his liver - again some count or something was lower than should be. I am still concerned but glad to know he is not in any extreme danger. The vet wants him back in a few weeks for more tests.
As for what specifically caused the leg injury, they cannot figure that one out. He still sometimes brings his back left leg inward when he walks instead of it moving straight and smoothly, but he seems to be feeling better. He is on an anti-inflammatory medicine and like I said we're bringing him back in next month for more tests.
I appreciate everyone's kind words - they mean so much to me because you all really understand what it's like when your dog is sick or injured.
BTW ~ just thought I'd share this.....when I first adopted Riley, everyone else in the family was a little anxious because he was soo energetic, crazy, etc. He has definitely tried everyone's patience at a time. But my mom told me when they saw something was wrong with him the other day, they drove him to the vet immediately and my mom even sat in back with him the whole way there because she was concerned.....he's got all of us wrapped around his paw, lol.
