Say No to Sarah - Caution, Very Graphic Video

Yet, it has spun into an off topic bashfest of Sarah Palin

This is not surprising.  What is surprising is that no one has yet to spin it into a Bush bashfest.  That seems to be pretty popular whenever a thread has political implications.

It sickens me that people are bashing this accomplished woman, and it would sicken me if we were bashing Biden, or Obama.  When it comes down to it, her stance on abortion is not really going to mean much.  Bush is also pro-life, and he's been in office for almost 8 years now.  Roe v Wade still stands, however.  It's such a popular idea to create a "sky is falling" atmosphere about how a candidate is going to do (insert whatever over-the-top scary scenario you wish) to try and scare people into voting for someone else.  Me, I do my research, thoroughly, and make up my OWN mind.  I listen to the candidates, not the so-called "journalists."  And while I listen to the pundits, I do so with an open mind and then further my research.  If I see or hear something I find alarming about a candidate, I research it further, because it's often spun way off-base, or even sometimes an outright lie (Bush National Guard record-60 Minutes fiasco, anyone?).

That being said, to me what are the most important issues are: national defense, reducing the size of the federal government and returning more power back to the states, and reducing federal spending and taxes.  Compare the two tickets on those issues, and McCain-Palin wins hands down for me.

That is all, and please stop the name-calling.  It doesn't make your argument any better.  In fact, it makes it moot to me.

Re-read the title of this thread,of course it's about Sarah Palin and her wildlife management practices in her own state.Perfectly on-topic as I see it.

As I recall, this thread was about predator/population control.  Yet, it has spun into an off topic bashfest of Sarah Palin, which mods, & admin have chosen to ignore.

The topic of the thread is "Say No to Sarah".  How is criticizing Sarah Palin off topic??

I know it's many pages back, but let me remind you, it STARTED as a bash Palin thread, where you been?  Want to bash Obama, start your own thread!  Stick out tongue

Sorry, but I cannot support anyone who supports brutal and inhumane hunting practices.  It's one thing to kill to feed your family, and it's one thing to kill to reduce a population that's starving (with more humane methods than aerial gunning or leg hold traps), but the practices that this woman approved in order to placate ranchers and others, are not consistent with humane management practices that any rational human should condone.  All of you who are so quick to think of dogs as wolves should picture your dogs suffering like this and you could never vote for that b&^%$.  As a nation, even when we need to protect livestock, we should do it humanely and with some thought as to which individuals are culled, why and how, and realize that the balance of nature is not always our enemy.  We are all related.

I just love when attention is drawn to a candidate's weaknesses and supporters of the candidate shriek "What about YOUR candidate??? What about THIS and THAT and some of WHATEVER???" instead of addressing the issue at hand.  Address the fact that she authorized $400,000 in propoganda disguised as "predator education" prior to a ballot question on the issue of aerial wolf and bear predator management.  Address the fact that she has stated anything other than abstinence-only sex ed would not get her support.  Address the fact that when asked what her stand would be on abortion in the event of rape or incest, her response was "I would choose life".  Address the fact that she voted against benefits for gay couples.  Don't tell me what Obama, Biden and Bush have or have not done, address why these issues do or do not get your support.  The fact that she's a woman and has achieved a nomination means nothing to me.  I'm old enough to remember Geraldine Ferraro, we Dems have been dere done dat.  As usual, Republicans are 20 years behind us.

There is a difference between criticizing her policies and calling her "ugly," etc.

If this was directed at me, you obviously did not read my post.  I would never start any thread bashing anyone, and I believe I already stated that I do not condone bashing Obama.  I will gladly discuss the stances on issues of any candidate, but I will not personally bash them, nor will I post links to stories by biased or unreliable sources.  That is why I stressed doing research.  Do I believe that Obama's reference to his "Muslim faith" was a slip of the tongue?  Of course!  I thought that immediately the first time I heard it, and I don't condone people reading into it that much.  Common sense prevailed there, so I didn't even have to research it.  Besides, it wouldn't matter to me if he was Muslim.  Just like even though I am pro-choice (yep, a pro-choice Republican here!), I weigh other issues over that one, because when it comes down to it, if for some reason (doubtful) Roe v Wade were to ever be overturned, every state in this country would move to immediately make their own laws regarding allowing abortion, so it just doesn't matter to me what a VP candidate's stance is.  The VP has only one vote in the Senate, and it would take SCOTUS to overturn it anyway, not the Senate.

If you feel that the number one issue preventing you from voting for John McCain is Sarah Palin's record on wolf population control, then you are most welcome to express that opinion and you should make your vote based on that.  And I am allowed to express my opinions and vote how I choose, based on the issues I deem the most important.  That is why America is so great.  But I choose to express my opinions respectfully of everyone, and I wish everyone else on here would choose to do the same.

ROFL! I said the very same thing to my husband when the news was going all agaga about her as the  republican choice.

And I will add, while there have been really harsh views by some, I don't see anyone "bashing" anything but where she stands on some issue's. I don't see anyone calling her names, and if I missed it, im sorry. And, I have to also add that it seems those who favor the ticket are touting off more defensively about the teenage daughter thing, than the democrates are.....why so defensive if it should be a none issue?

She has been the VP pick for...10days? How can you know everything about a person in 10 freaking days? Some are defending her like they would their rights as dog owners, and other's think she is some kind of ban on man kind...............

Tell me, if she advocates for a ban and the destruction of bully breeds, how fast and how many of you would abandon her in a hot new york second?

Surely, you jest?  You did read the original post, right?  Not just the subject line...  Or maybe you missed the "ugly face" comments, questions about her education, comments about race wars, or the discussion about an increase in registered voters.  That's just up to page 2.  I know that there are other OT issues as well.

I can't believe that people only read the subject line.  I expected more of the people here...

Well, here's a sampling for you from this thread:

"could never vote for that b&^%$"

    "She makes me sick."

"She makes me sick also, I can't stand this b&$@h!!. I'm already sick of seeing her ugly face posted all over the tv!"

    Is that enough for you?

People have to defend the allegations about her daughter because the press went into a frenzy covering it like it was Bill and Monica, Part II.  Anyone see the US Weekly cover headline?  "Sarah Palin: Babies, Lies, & Scandal."  And you want to know why people defend her?  Are we not allowed to defend someone just because YOU don't like what she stands for?  What if WE like what she stands for?  We're not only defending her, but also our own points of view.

Could not the same be hypothesized if it came out that Obama supported BSL?

Does it say In Reply to Aerial1313 in the upper right hand corner of my post? No it does not.  If it was directed at you, I would have quoted you and I would not carefully edit out smiley faces with stuck out tongues indicating good humor.  Hmm

No, it says "Reply to spiritdogs", and there was nothing in her posts to indicate anything about Obama, and since mine was above yours and did mention Obama (though in defense of him, actually), there is really no need to get snippy.  Anytime a thread starts getting snarky at other people, I find it best to bow out, so I wish everyone luck in their continued discussion of this topic.  I suppose everyone who has hijacked this thread should retitle it "Bash Sarah Palin here!  Opposing views not welcome."

You missed my highlighted section, where I said if I missed it, I'm sorry.....................

Ok, bold statement by you.............In your own words, THE PRESS is making an issue of it, not anyone here that I could see, and I am sure someone will come along and prove me wrong, guess I would like to believe people are better than lowering themselves to pick on a mother of a teenager for a choice the teenager made.  Again, the times article did not start here. And the press is doing the goading and bashing, not the democrats. As for defense of her, my point is do you really really REALLY know everything about her, or any of them for that matter? I certainly don't and in not afraid to say so.

As for the breed ban, you betcha, I would not support anyone who tries to ban any breed and would indeed first try to sway them to thinking like a dog owner, if not, I would withdraw my support.

Was that honest enough for you?

I am going to liken any negative feedback, name calling, sick making remarks a payback for those that think it is ok to disrespect Mr. B. Obama on this board by calling him B. Hussein. Most said they did it to get a rise out of supporters for his side, guess you can call the Palin Bashing, payback.
