Non-dog: BUGS!!! (Liesje)

I've got a new fascination with bugs! Unfortunately, I live in the city so cool ones are few and far between. Hopefully I will find some better ones on vacation. Bumble bees are the best, they usually linger on the flower and do little poses for the camera, plus you can knock them with your lens and they don't even care.

Lovely shots! I love insects too...and spiders...aside from the Brown Recluses in my house I mean...LOL. I like the caterpillar best Smile

LOL, I don't do spiders! The cicada was pushing it but it was just a shell, no bug "home".

What are these? We have them all over the freaking place, and Luna loves to play with them. She brings them in my office all the time and plays with them. Sad

Yes!! They are the weirdest little bugs. I actually think they are kind of cute, but Luna is like Godzilla with them. She picks them up and carries them into my office, then goes out to get a few more. Sometimes she pulls their legs off. I periodically "throw them back' if they aren't on death's door.

They are japanese beetles, and they are the devil to get rid of.

Ohhh no! Those are bad news. I guess I will let Luna kill them. Good girl -- protecting the plants! Apparently my line about her being Godzilla wasn't too far off the mark.

Yup. They'll destroy your gardens. They are kinda funny...if they're just flying around, and you toss a pebble up in the air near them (not trying to hit them, of course!), they'll try and chase the pebble. It's kinda entertaining.

a friend of mine has a dog that ate so many Japanese beetles that it pooped Japanese beetles LOL

Yeah you see all the beetles on the pink flower? I went back there last week (over by the pond) looking for a frog to photograph and all those bushes, flowers and leaves, are totally devoured.

I think it's the 10th one, the fluffy bee on the yellow flower, that's my favorite.
