I rescued another dog!

My dogs eat bully sticks all the time. I can't tell you the calorie count, but they're far from being fat girls. I still haven't covered Ena's dang hip bones....

My dogs LOOOVE Sam's Yams, too. They at least scrape at the teeth a little. Had Willie eaten when you offered him the chicken wing? I'd offer it in place of a meal. Teenie's teeth were in terrible condition, when I got her, and she was way too fat to go under anesthesia, so I had to work on hers, some, before I could fix them. She didn't take a lot of the chewies, either. I'm sure her teeth were sore. Was the chicken room temp, or was it cold? Sometimes, cold things will bother sore teeth. You can set the chicken, in a ziploc bag, in a container of warm water. It'll warm up pretty quickly.

Thanks Jennie...I tried everything to get him to take the wing but he just doesn't want it. Took him to the vet yesterday and he has very severe ear infections in both ears that I am treating now...and his teeth are just awful....he will need a few extracted but I am just not ready to have that done. He has already been anesthesized twice this month. I am going to try a few other things in the meantime. My vet said not to give him bones..that they could crack his teeth that are already in such poor shape and loaded with tartar. He feels all a dog needs is kibble...his exact words...I think I need a new vet....I don't really feel that he gives the best advice, especially when it came to Callie and her weight loss. He still insists she would lose weight faster on that Science Diet junk they sell as opposed to the Wellness Core diet formula she is on. Can you believe that?  I told him Willie was on a holistic kibble and that I add a teaspoon of canned Wellness as a topper because he loves it, and he still insists that canned food is not good for dogs at all, even that small amount. I also told him I am going to be adding a bit of probiotics to Willie's food and he looked at me as if I have 2 heads. lol

Thank you Janet..I will definately try your idea of searing some chicken and leaving a bit raw...because I KNOW he likes chicken.

Poor little man! No wonder he won't chew!

IME, if his teeth are going to crack, they will. It doesn't matter what you feed them. Teenie's teeth were terrible, too, and they cracked, even after they were clean. She actually had several slab fractures, when she died, that I hadn't fixed, yet. It didn't matter whether I gave her bones or no bones, soft food or kibble, she broke teeth. They were just ridiculously weak. Emma has a broken tooth, too, and it has nothing to do with what I feed. She broke it attacking the front of a kennel.
