UPDATE: I found the little bugger.(Kle1986)

Tico has run away. I left to go camping for the weekend and took the dogs with me. I had a friend taking care of the cats and bunny. She forgot to latch Tico's cage and left the sunroom door open(she thought I told her to leave the door open). I asked her to leave the screen to the window open so the cats could get in and out during the day but close it at night with the cats in. When she came back for night time duties she discovered Tico gone. So I came home immediately and searched everywhere for him. Cheyanne tried to help and led me to the woods so he's out in the woods somewhere.

Samantha is one angry kid right now. She doesnt get why Tico would run away. She asked me if his momma came and got him.

So I have come to the conclusion I am not meant to have animals. Or more like I cant  leave my animals with friends or stangers. I have lost 2 animals now due to others carelessness and I am tired of it. I will be staying home from now on or taking every single animal I have with me for overnight, weekend, week long, month long, year long trips.

oh no good I feel for ya, it's frustrating when you leave animals in someone else's care & things go wrong. I get like that with my animals feel like you can't trust anyone, the only people I will leave my dog with is my parents or sister. Other than that he comes with me, cats & small animals are not so easy to take away. Do you think there is a chance you may find him?

I have to deal with people being careless with my animals on a daily basis I live in a house that is always busy with friends here that aren't very animal sassy for instance last night we heard Tala my flat mates dog scratching at a door thinking she had locked herself in the spare room(a normal thing in our house) I check all the doors, oh no she's at the freaking front door. Somehow the boys managed to let two 80pound dogs out the front door & not notice. My dog likes to wander so at 11pm on friday night I am walking around the streets looking for my dog that shouldn't of been let outside in the first place argh! I was spitting

I am sorry to hear about your Tico being lost lets hope there is a chance you may find him.

I would love to find him in his cage tomorrow. I took it outside and put his favorite food in it and hoping he takes the bait. He has gotten out 3 times before but was caught within 10-20 minutes of escaping. The first time I hadnt latched the cage right. I had just gotten the cage so wasnt used to latching it correctly and double checking. I went outside and found his empty cage but Cheyanne took me to him. Samantha caught him with the help of Cheyanne.

The second time Samantha had gone to sit in his cage with him. Well it is actually Lillie's crate I was using at the time. She had shut the door but of course I wasnt gonna lock it with her in it. Well Tico pushes the door open and makes a dash for it. Samantha caught him though.

The third time was my fault also. Samantha had gone in the sunroom and let him out of his cage. Well I fussed at her because she had shut the sunroom door which I had open on purpose. She opened it back up and out comes Tico hopping happily away. Cheyanne helped Samantha catch him again.

But this time Tico got his perfect chance to escape. No one around to stop him. He's a white bunny so Im afraid he will be easy prey for any animal.Plus he isnt afraid of dogs or cats since mine have interacted with him on a daily bases.

Poor Tico I had rabbits before and I know its nearly impossible to find them once they are out.

Take a deep breath. And stop beating yourself up. Things happen, and we, as much as we try, cannot control the universe.

My husband and I have to take Kord with us just about anywhere, especially camping. He and I have trust issues with people. I don't trust them to treat my dog like I would, and he don't trust anyone not invited into the house.

As for rabbits, well they are funny little creatures. I usually leave the back porch door open where Butterscotch lives. So he can have some sun in the winter, cool breeze and fresh air in the summer. My neighbor has recently started leaving his cat out. She is a witch, not afraid of dogs and hangs out trying to chase birds at my feeders. One day the DH left the porch door open, we had bought him a brand new cage, well Bella (the cat) came on the porch after my rabbit. By the time my husband got out there, Butterscotch had escaped the cat and HIS CAGE. He shoo'd off Bella and spent 30 min chasing the rabbit around my yard which is dog secure but has holes aplenty for little bunnies. He finally caught him and put him back, and used trash bag ties to lock down the points on the cage so he could not get out again.

Sending some come home Tico prayers.

Oh Kle, I'm so sorry.  I hope he turns up.

I found the little bugger. Well actually I was outside doing my morning chores and here he comes hopping across the yard. I grabbed his cage and got him some fresh cool water. It did the trick and he hopped into the cage and started drinking like crazy.

Maybe now he wont think wild life is such better than the nice life I give him. Think he'll appreciate the 3 cages I have for him to rotate between that always has nice fresh yummy food and cool fresh water everyday? And not having to find shelter from the rain? Probably not but I will pretend he does.

Now gotta rethink my pet sitting arrangements.

Wow that is pretty neat, reminds me of the rabbits from Watership Down, I read the book in like 4th grade all I remember are rabbits.

Very glad Tico has returned safely. Keep an eye out for parasites he might have picked up out there!

I'm glad you found the little guy.  When Ronnie was living outside he sometimes got out, but if we couldn't find him he would normally come back.  However, a rabbit we had a long time ago actually got picked up by animal control once when he got out while we were on vacation.   I HATE leaving my pets for vacation.  It really stinks, even when someone I know well is watching them.

Wow I am glad you found him.  Tip for pet sitting arrangements:  WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN!!  If you just TELL people, they can't re-read it, they could have mis-heard, mis-remembered or just plain forgot.  Write it down!

I did write everything down in nice red sharpie marker. And I taped it to the door where it wouldnt be missed. Apparently my friend is blind.Confused

YAY!!! I'm glad that Tico came home.

Yay!  I'm so glad that he came back!  After I read that he was missing, I asked Dubby and Max to send him bunny-come-home vibes...perhaps it worked. Smile

I bet Samantha's thrilled too. Smile
