What is it with people?

Yesterday, I was told, "He's got PAPERS! He'll NEVER be neutered!!!"

So... *sigh* Maybe they thought Jack maybe had papers? Because papers means QUALITY! 

Yea, appearantly seeing a dog for 3 minutes is enough to descide you *need* to have a pup from them or breed your dog to them

I had Mystic at a community yard sale awhile ago.  She was walking around being her usually wonderful self (hmm? biased, me? do you think so? LOL ).  A woman walked up and asked if she was an akita and I said yes.  She said, "She's beautiful, are you going to breed her?"  When I said no, she's spayed the woman looked at me like I just told her that aliens had kidnapped her baby.  Even when I explained that she had hip dyslplasia, which is genetic and that I would want to pass that on (more reasons but I figured that one should be enough) the stunned/horrified/confused look continued. 

 Is it wrong that I don't even know where my dog's papers ARE?  LOL.  I mean, they're somewhere in the house, but...

I've had a few people ask me about breeding him, all since he was fixed.  The funniest one was the man who got on my case for starving Ben because he is "too thin" and then in the next breath said "he's lovely, would you be interested in breeding him?" *headdesk*

LOL.....for the dogs that have papers (I know where they are, in a fire proof safety box with all our documents), TOO bad.....they are neutered.....no breeding going on here......that would really defeat my purpose of saving dogs.....eh

No one has ever asked me to breed any of my 3 purebreed dogs but then again I don't have everyday dogs except for my pug.  But my mutt, Duke (at the Bridge) was a beautiful dog, well behaved etc.  Many people asked asked if I wanted to breed him (during his 15 years with us) with there likewise beautiful dogs.  Duke looked and we think was part or all Gordon Setter, my Vet beleived he was full breed but we will never know.  When I adopted him the shelter said he as Lab and ?? (I forgot) as a puppy .  He was a beautiful well behaved loving dog.

People do ask me if "I" am planning on breeding River but they don't have a counter part (another Swissy) so me breeding with them would not make no ense.  Of course, any of Swissy friends wouldn't think of such a thing - we are all about keeping this breed true.  He is neutered too and yeah, I have no idea where his papers are.

My uncle is BYB of labs and any lab that is healthy with papers he would consider as a stud for his dogs.  I am sure if he got a chance to have a conversation with you he might ask if your willing too.  That's is the way the BYB gets there studs and everybody is breeding and selling Labs these days.

OK he was neutered at about 10 wks old - come on now his legs are long enough and he has no hair can they not tell there ain't nothing swinging down there?

I had a funny encounter with a nice fellow while walking Rascal today. Said fellow apparently had a dog "just like him," and he had the dog for 17 years. He then very solemnly advised me that to keep Rascal healthy for a long time, I needed to keep the ticks off him and wash his legs in some special something to keep away arthritis. He then sternly instructed me to "take good care of him!" I thought it was very cute that he was so concerned about Rascal's well-being, and assured him that ticks would be kept away and legs would be kept thoroughly washed. 

I've never had anyone ask or talk about breeding Rascal, though a lot of people ask where to get a dog like him. I wonder if maybe it's more of a bigger dog thing?

Of course, a lot of people automatically assume he's a girl, so maybe that has something to do with it.

add Aesop to the gender misidentification club. Everyone wants to call him a she..apparently fluffy dogs can't be boys.

Woobie gets the "she" label all the time!  I've never been approached about breeding either.  I wonder if those who do were to exchange phone numbers with the would be breeders and then string them along with busy excuses, etc. while the other dog comes in and out of head, it would help prevent a litter.     Just my devious mind at work, how to use their desire to recklessly breed against them!  LOL!

I've been asked if I was going to breed Apollo because of his massive size for a Lab (110lbs and a healthy weight for his body structure) which is apparently a good thing when looking for a mate......nevermind heath tests, temp tests, history, etc etc...nevermind if he isn't even a purebred either....but at least he is a big boy!

ETA...he also suffers from "flat sack disease"....

I say next time of that person has a child with him ask if he would be willing to breed him/her with one of your offspring?

 It's odd, I getasked that fairly regularly with Lizzie (usually after the "No, she's NOT a pom" explanation of what she is, so apparently rare breed = MUST breed them in the mind of JQP)  

 Occasionally someone asks if I'm going to breed Kaylee and Mal (she's spayed and he may ro may not be bred- probably not but we'll see.) but I really don't get this all that often. Weird. Maybe it's a regoinal thing?

Everyone always seems to immediatly jump to the conclusion he is a she. 

Like Pwca said, rare breed=must-have-puppies-if-you-don't-it's-a-crime-against-humanity, so Honor always gets the aghast looks when I say that she's spayed.  One lady told me I was crazy, because "Did I know how much money I could make off of her??!?!?!"....ugh.
