i do agree though. they shouldnt be on public land, if there is a ban in the area then you need to look at POACHERS and not tar everyone with the same brush. dont ban breeds and dont ban a tool just because some idiot is using it the wrong way.
but they aren't banned here. People are ALLOWED to go out in the public wilderness areas and put barbaric leg-hold traps out during the season when all sorts of people are out with off-leash dogs. And they aren't trying to relocate animals, they are trying to horribly kill animals for their fur. Which is the only way one can use a leg-hold trap- I'm not sure where you get the idea steel leg-hold traps can be used for relocating animals because they can't because they cause severe damage to the animal. They should be banned. There is NO HUMANE OR SAFE WAY to use a steel jaw leg-hold trap. When people want to relocate animals they generally use cage-traps.
Watch the videos I posted and you will see where I got my info.
and i got the IDEA because i have experience in this department. i KNOW trappers, and i KNOW forestry/wild life officials. i dont just know OF them. i KNOW them. thank you.
tell you what.... i dont like barb wire... my sister nearly got herself killed because some dope rebuilt a fence on public land and left the old wire all over. it blended in so well that we didnt see it. the horse got so tangled up in it, not to mentioned spun around in circles going out of his mind - with my sister hanging on for dear life - So lets ban that horrible stuff because i've had more bad experiences with barb wire than i have with a steel trap.
other thing... if you slip your dog in an area that you know has traps... what the heck are you doing? proving a point?
dont like it? send a note to the local congress to have it removed. Like Huskymom said..... a professional trapper isnt lazy and more than a professional dog owner.
and if you need more proof -
