where do your dogs sleep?

Before I figured out that my asthma at night might be triggered by dog hair in the bed *duh* - they were invited up to cuddle before DH came to bed and in the morning when we all woke up.  (Which usually led to everyone falling back asleep.)

They sleep on the couch or on their beds on the floor in our room.

Pofi, even though he's a big boy at 70 pounds with (frequently commented on) seriously long legs, is really easy to sleep with.  He likes to be on the bed and I like him to be on the bed - he usually stretches out vertically along side me, but between me and DH.  Mia is much smaller, but more of a bed hog - we have a large drawer that pulls out from under DH's side with a comfy dog bed in it and she cuddles with us for a while, but all four of us are happier if she moves to the bed in the drawer. I also have at least one, sometimes two and very rarely 3 cats lying on top of me or next to me...

It helps that I rarely move when I sleep!

All furniture (couches, chairs, beds) are off-limits to Chase.  He used to try to jump up when he was a puppy, but he figured out that those a dog-free zones.  Honestly, I think that he would be confused if we sometimes let him on the bed and sometimes didn't.

He used to sleep in a crate in the corner.  As he became more trustworthy, we moved the crate out of the bedroom and put a dog bed in the corner.  That's where he sleeps.  Every morning I can feel him watching me from the corner.  If I don't open my eyes, he'll stay put...but as soon as I look at him, watch out!  He's all puppy kisses and thumping tail!

He only sleeps in the bedroom at night.  The rest of the time he's usually zonked on the floor beside me (wherever I happen to be).  I still think it's funny when I can't find Chase after he's had a very busy day, and I realize that he's gone to bed, even though it's only 8:00.

I'm not much of a sleeper, (4 hrs. per night usually), so Talus jumps into bed with my husband.  When I finally go to bed, Talus will jump off our bed and sleep on his dog bed, which is on my side.
He's slept this way since we brought him home at 2 months.
During the day it all depends on what we're up to.
    If we're outside, he sleeps on his blanket on the patio;
if he's inside, it's usually in the main bathroom or the kitchen where the tiles are nice and cool.

Millie sleeps in her own bed at the foot of my parents' bed most of the time. Sometimes she'll drag her bed between my mom's side of the bed and the dresser, and other times she drags her bed out into the middle of the room and just sleeps on the floor at the foot of the bed. During the day if she's in the living room she'll sleep on one of the chairs, but it took her a while to realize she was allowed to do this, because she would get off anytime someone came in the room. Now she will stay there if someone comes in, but she will still get off if told to.
Max sleeps in my bed at night. When we first got him, he started out in his crate. Then after I spent a night sleeping in my sister's room with his crate in the room, I found out he slept later if he was with me. He still stayed in his crate by himself for a while after that, at first he was upstairs in the hallway, then he moved into the living room. He'd start out in his crate at night, then when he got up in the morning, if I wasn't ready to get up, we'd go back to sleep on the couch, or if I didn't want to get up early to begin with, we'd just start out on the couch. Eventually because he got accused of being the one who barks all day (but it is Millie, not him) his crate got moved into the basement, which is where my room is. He last a few nights sleeping in his crate, but he was waking up ridiculously early and whining. I couldn't outlast him, especially not on the days when I had to get up early and leave to get to my classes at 6:30 in the morning. So, I just started having him sleep in my room. I actually made him sleep in my bed, because at the time my room was such a mess, and I didn't want him on wandering around the floor finding stuff to munch on. It's also ridiculously small, so if I got him his own bed, I wouldn't be able to walk around without bumping in to it. He sort of gets an invitation to come up, in that I open the door, and/or the baby gate, and tell him we're going to bed. Then he usually follows me in and hops in bed with me. He gets up as soon as I get up, or as soon as he realizes I have gotten up and left him. The rest of the time he sleeps one of the chairs. He has a choice between the rocker, and whichever of the dish chairs aren't being used at the time. If I shut my laptop, he most of the time he will automatically jump up, because he's realized that it usually means I am getting up and going somewhere. It's not exactly the same off command other people would use, but it's very effective.

Tango sleeps in my room. She usually spends half the night on my bed & the other half on the floor. The others sleep with my mom.

Bubblegum gets her big cushiony dog bed put on the floor at the end of my bed and that is where she curls up to sleep all night. In the morning after DH gets up (if he gets up before me) she will jump in and lay by me for a little while, she loves to be hugged and kissed.   But she needs to know her place and that she is a dog, so she must sleep on the floor. Unfortunately Bubby is that kind of dog that tends to try to take over and sometimes she tries to take over me, so I know she must remain on the floor as much as I would like her to sleep on the bed.

Blue sleeps in my room on my bed which he leaves me a foot of my bed to sleep at night. Some times he will sleep on his doggie bed or the floor. Most of the time its my bed and right up aganist me in a full doggy stretch

Sophia sleeps in our bed, usually on my wifes head.  Sophia is supposed to be my wifes dog, but she doesnt have the time to give the the attention that I do so I kind of have to make Soph sleep there.

Shakespeare sleeps on the main floor.  The kids leave their door open in case he wants to be in there, but unless the close the door he is usually in the bathtub.  I tried having him upstairs with us, but he jumped on the bed, and when I pulled him off he jumped up again right away, so I carried him back downstairs.

Jake sleeps in my room, either in his crate or on a "cushion bed" (2 couch cushions pushed together, with a blanket on top, to help ease pressure on his arthritic hips). He prefers the cushions, lol

Sweet Pea sleeps in bed with me. She is the same as smilee1079's baby. She starts off under the covers but by morning, her head is on the pillow beside me. I wish I knew how she got the covers up to her neck.
The other doggies sleep with the kids, some on the floor beside their beds and some on the beds.

When we first go to bed, they all take turns jumping up for a goodnight hug and pet, never more than two at once.  It's really kind of funny to watch them sitting on the floor waiting for their turn! This is a routine they all started themselves. After a couple minutes they get down and go to their individual sleeping place, chosen by them, not by us.
Bandit-on my side of the bed on the floor
Smokey-DH's side of the bed on the floor
Cinnamon-foot of the bed on the floor
    Minky and Dango-under the bed
    Kuma- in the bedroom doorway
Lucy-bedroom floor or livingroom couch (she moves about in the night some)

At night,  Romeo sleeps either in his bed at the foot of my parents bed or crate whichever one he feels like it.  During the day,  where ever we are, so he has beds all over the place.  And if he is outside, because Houston is sooo hot, I bought him one of those mats that you run under cool water and that is where he is going to be.  He does get invited to get in the bed, but he only stays for a little while, and then he gets down and goes to his bed.

Ruby is just 4 months old and although we haven't had an accident in forever, she is still not quite trustworthy so she sleeps in her crate, with no fussing.  She'll stay there until she is trustworthy (I don't want to cause a setback in housetraining).  I'd like her to make that transition to our bed someday but that's a long way off.

The two little dogs sleep on my moms queen size bed (no room for them on my full size) and Mac sleeps on the "dog chair" or the couch. Sometimes they even sleep in the crate! lol
