Whats in your Salad?

Ranch is the only dressing I like.  If it's not an option, I'll eat my salad without dressing.  I just like lettuce, onion, carrots, the purple stuff, cheese, and cucumber.  Crutons, egg, and bacon bits or ham are a bonus.

I like the Santa Fe chicken salad at Applebees, probably the only pre-made salad I like.  I do not like any salad with anything sweet on it.   If I want fruit I will eat fruit and if I want a sugary liquid I'll have a juice or soda, thank you.

I usually have iceberg or romaine lettuce, carrots, onions, croutons, and cucumbers. For dressing, I like ranch or ceasar. I also like some chicken on my salads sometimes. I also like the pasta chicken ceasar salad from Wawa, and I think I might go get one in a bit.

Amen Liesje!!!  I like ham, turkey, cheese, tomatoes, cucmbers, bacon, hard boiled eggs with blue cheese dressing.

However, I have to fit into a slinky dress in two weeks so lately my salads include spring mix lettuce, cucmbers, tomatoes, a touch of blue cheese crumbles and lite balsamic vinegar.

I was starting to think maybe I was the only person who thought like that....glad to know I'm not alone!

ETA: I guess I should add what I like in a salad to the list: lettuce, those leaves (baby spinach? maybe? I *so don't know foodEmbarrassed) some cuccumber, carrots, the purple stuff, brocolli, egg, croutons, and RANCH, a little ham or turkey too would be nice, oh or tuna.  If it's a *hot* salad I would steak, chicken, and/or french fries.  (Well I'm supposed to watching how many carbs I eat now....so I guess the croutons/crackers and french fries are outCrying) I like the idea of adding avaccado....might have to try that....

ME TOO Steph and Lies!  No sweet stuff in my salad either.  Same reasons as Lies actually.

A couple of weeks ago when Steph was down here and we got to meet up at Epcot for lunch (we went to Morocco for lunch -- doesn't that sound like we went far??? *grin*) I wound up with a really good cold lentil salad that was really good.  Not super vinegary ... really filling but all good fiber, not fatty stuff.

Give me a good Greek salad any day of the week.  My favorite.

Yeah she told me like the night before almost that she was gonna be at a pin convention.... & I said shoot -- we're going to hear Arlo on Saturday (Guthrie -- sorry -- I'm talking to another unknown to Woodstock LOL).

Now, Megan ... David and I are gonna go tomorrow to hear Jose Feliciano -- prolly will hit the park about noon -- and by 3 or so we'll stand in line forever to hear him.  ANY TIME you wanna meet up, just tell me!  You've still got my cell, right??  We don't try to do the during the week concerts during the Flower Power concert series -- too hard to do it logistically any more.  But if it's someone we like on the weekends !!! RAH!!!!!!

Dang it, I'm working alllll day :(

Ooooo, we're HORRIBLY off topic. Sorry guys :) back to salad.

I personally like a nice italian dressing and ONLY romaine lettuce, croutons, cucumbers, and maybe some parm cheese.

Spring mix is my favorite.  But, gotta have grape tomatoes, I love cukes, but they don't love me, sigh, green pepper, zuchinni slices are nice, a bit of chopped onion..... fresh grated parmasan, cheese sometimes, but for that I really prefer a Cobb salad....avocado....just about any veggie adds something. Unsalted sesame seeds.  Ranch dressing or none at all thank you.

If it's in the veggie family it can go in my salad bowl.

I really hate cabbage and stuff in salad. Really. It tastes TERRIBLE. Actually I pretty much hate any greens in salad besides spinach and romaine. I also hate eggs in salad, but I generally am not a fan of hard-boiled eggs anyway...

I really like a salad with romaine, spinach, bell peppers, cucumbers, red onion, avocado, olives (green, black, kalamata..whatever), a little cheese (little cubes preferably..shredded cheese just kinda gets lost..added calories without added flavor..boooo), maybe some grilled chicken or lunch meat... and a non-creamy dressing. I just can't eat a salad drowning in artery-clogging liquid..it kind of defeats the purpose in my head.

I got this reeally yummy looking dressing yesterday..I haven't tried it yet, but it's like..3-cheese Italian or something..it looks soooo good. It has like 8 grams of fat in it, and 90 calories, but that's a heck of a lot better than the ranch we have, at 18 grams of fat and 200+ calories...

Isn't it really funny how our tastes develope?  I love the fact that my kids have always liked salads.  My mom raised myself and my 5 sibs eating them and it just became a natural I guess. My 4 year old grand daughter Ceattle's current favorite sandwitch is Bread, "salad", cheese and catsup.  She has gotten up the past week and that is what she wants for breakfast , lunch and dinner.  I know it will pass but for the moment I just have to grin when that is her very specific request. The folks at Subway yesterday did thier best to talk her into other toppings and no catsup but she politely held her ground.

Another funny thing is I Love Olive oil but hate a greasy salad. So Taco salads etc that aren't well drained are out .  I love about every type of cheese you can think of  except goat. When I was 16 I was working in Nicaragua and frequently the village we would be vaccinating that day would bring cold corn tortillas and goat cheese as our meal.  I ate what I could but believe me it was not easy. To this day the smell of it does not make me think  hmmmm gourmet ...but darn desperatly poor folks.

My favorite: Romaine lettuce, black olives, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, spinach, croutons, and cheese.  Do NOT put those shaved carrots that only belong in cole slaw in my salad, and no nuts or fruit either.  Lettuce and fruit - blecchhh

Same here. Smile Years ago a good friend gave me a recipe for a taco salad that doesn't call for any dressing. It's just seven things dumped together in a bowl:  lettuce, chopped tomato, one lb. of diced cheddar cheese, a can of drained kidney beans, two or three small cans of drained, sliced black olives, one bunch of chopped green onions (green part, too) and a bag of doritos.  It seems the salt from the doritos mixes with the moisture from the beans, olives and tomatoes and it sort of makes its own dressing.  It holds up pretty well too, as you can just add more doritos before serving it and that perks it right up.

I'm definitely a fan of the baby spinach salad. It usually consists of baby spinach, cheddar cheese, hardboiled egg, tomatoes, bacon bits and raw muchrooms...

    And now I am starving...
