    Mindless Chatter hump day

I hate stupid Wednesdays, blech. I'm 'off' today but I have a bunch of work stuff I should be working on. On my day off. LOLZ.

Apparently when I was at work last night the raccoon climbed our 6 ft. privacy fence and was looking in the sliding glass door!! My brother said he and BF threw rocks at it and it ran away. Stupid coon.

I felt so crappy yesterday from all the pollen, and everyone insisting upon cutting their grass, so I went to sleep from about 7:30-10:00, when my sister woke me up by sending Max in. Then I went back to sleep from 11:30 to around 9:00. I don't feel as bad as I did yesterday, in that my face doesn't hurt, but my ears feel sort of clogged, and my nose is still sort of stuffy. I can't sleep like that tonight, since I am supposed to be up and out of the house early to be somewhere at 8am. Then I am going to see the Midnight showing of the Narnia movie, and I have to be out again on Friday to be at the same place by 8am. In short, I will be tired on Friday.

Last night I had Kenya out for training and came home to a horrific mess.  I came in and saw this line of liquid drops on the floor.  I thought Coke chased a cat and peed a little b/c he got excited.  I leaned down to check out the spots but it didn't seem like pee.  I watch WAY to much CSI b/c I knew this spatter pattern comes from drops above, not a running dog.  Sure enough, the light fixture was full of water!  Then I assumed the toilet overflowed so I ran to the bathroom, but the toilet was fine.  I went in DH's room and the hard wood floor was soaking wet!  I still have no clue what happened, best guess is that the sealant on his fish tank is leaking and it slowly leaked.  I saw the power strip where all the tank accessories are plugged in, sitting in a puddle of water.  Stupid me, I reach to switch it off.  Yeah know I know what 120v of AC current feels like!  I had no way to kill the power b/c everything was sitting in the giant puddle so I went down to the basement and flipped ALL the circuits off, unplugged the tank, and flipped the power back on.  Then I had to clean up the huge mess, mop up the floor, empty the tank, save the fish, mop up the ceiling and the light fixture...what a mess!  I got the fish into a large bucket and I think they are OK.  There's one that is really special but he can't live in the tank downstairs b/c the other fish is South American and he is African.  Cichlid fish are "racist" and will fight to the death.  Now the floor in DH's room is basically destroyed.  It's a real hard wood floor (not a veneer or Pergo).  I'm thinking I'd rather sand and refinish it myself than forfeit $625 deposit.  How much can it cost to refinish a 10x10 space?

I had a job interview today at a hospital close by here, its a pretty big hospital and its in the sports medicine building. The only downfall is its a casual pool position which means I would only work on an as needed basis. I told him that was fine with me and I can work any days and any hours. I really just want my foot in the door, because once I'm in and hired I can apply and get first crack at the internal job postings and possibly move to part time or even full time quickly. They are re-paving our streets around here today, and of course they are on our street now and I can't take the dogs for a walk around the neighborhood. I may take them to the park soon, but it looks like rain. My luck it'll rain as soon as we get out there.

I believe its fairly inexpensive if you do it yourself and know what your doing. I am pretty sure at Home Depot or Lowe's you can rent a sander.

YAY! Another beautiful day. Not too hot, jussttttt right =]

I brought home a dog from the shelter yesterday, in hopes of fostering him... but he tried to eat my cats. So that didn't work out as planned.  I let Boston stay the day though, and just relax for a while. He likes the pool, so we went swimming for a bit. Then I took both dogs to the park - they had a fantastic time! They both made friends with the little pittie girl there, all dogs had a blast! Boston kept sitting on her - it was very cute.

The people behind me are starting to leave their dog out more during the day - which is fine, I wouldn't mind, except the darn thing barks! All the time! It's a little shih tzu, so it has that annoying yippy bark.....*sigh* I'll have to say something next time I see the parents. 7:30 in the morning is just too early for that kind of thing! Plus - I don't want my neighbors to think it's MY dog, cause it's not! He was sleeping in bed with me when the little one started.

The pups are getting fixed today!  So I've been cleaning and trying to get things back in order while they are gone for the day, lol.

    Lies that stinks!

I'm off to NY tonight until Monday.  Family visit, to too excited about it and already missing my big guy and I didn't even leave yet, sigh.

I think I am becoming a dog fanatic.  Our neighborhood has so many dogs and it is pretty depressing to see how many are overweight, dragging their owners, unsocialized and a few look fairly unhealthy.  There are only two busy roads in our community and they are busiest in the morning with the work and school crowd.  This morning we came out of our cul de sac and saw a man with an unleashed puppy on one of these busy roads.  The pup was running on to people's yards and then in the middle of the road and back again.  I was impressed that it didn't wander too far (Bugs at that age would have been gone) but despite the 25mph people fly down this road.  there are no sidewalks and it is tight for two cars to pass.  I was a nervous wreck, the guy started to jog and the pup was even more all over the place.

Then we saw the lady with a 1+yr old shiba inu that lives on a tie out and gets a long enough walk to poop "never more than 30 minutes though".  She (the dog) is very snarky and clearly full of pent up energy.

Then we meet this woman and her 6 mo old 'purebred' lab that has a white spot on it's tail and underneath.  The 'white' spot look like a loss of hair on the tail.  This pup is seriously overweight, she said he's going to be a big boy as he is already 60lbs.  Get this she has him on a small flexi lead (leash is like a shoelace) that she has repaired by tying knots in.  He is leaping and lunging, gets caught in Bugsy's leash etc.  He doesn't get walks because he doesn't walk very well (they were merely taking daughter to bus stop - two houses away from home)  He did nearly take her down with a few lunges

Then Bonnie the rottie who I thought was ancient and turned out to be 5.  She has no muscle at all.  Apparently she weighs about 105 and as a guess she should be 80.  She is terrified of other dogs and only walks short distances because she just lies down.  She has no hind muscles at all.  My guess is hip dysplasia

So I guess officially I am the crazy dog lady!  I feel so irritated by this and of course mr. muscle & I are some sort of loons because we are out everyday.

BTW yesterday we had a super bike ride, by golly he seems to be getting the idea that he doesn't have to run as fast as he can Big Smile

Jenny, I hope your interview went well and you get hired. I should go out and mail my resume to a few places. I may go in a little bit and get some lunch, though I'm hoping that if I wait a little longer, my dad might want lunch. Oh well, If I don't go now, I can send them later when I go to work.

I just got an email asking if I am going to continue with the students I work with for the summer, if I want to take any additional hours with other students, etc. I wrote back to say that I am continuing with one, but not the other. I hope I don't get asked any questions in regards to it.

Awesome! Dakota never really understood pacing. She always wanted to run all out until she was ready to drop, then I'd have to practically drag her back home after we were done biking or roller blading.

Rain rain rain. It's a soaking rainy day here. That's ok though, I need the grass seed I planted to grow! Also, it's nice not to have to worry about watering my outside flowers.

I can't believe that Neiko is actually eating his fish oil pills straight up. He seems excited about it too. They are like gel caps and he just chews them up and gulps them down. 5 of them every day.  I thought I was going to have to force them down his throat.

haha! Good boy Neiko!! Casey likes him too - vit. e pills too. Strange doggies.... lol

That was our first couple of rides.  Yesterday I rode as fast as possible around our yard (an acre) encouraging him to run full out unleashed - of course he is faster than a mountain bike and he needed to get his airkong football and squeak it as we ran Stick out tongue.

Then I put his harness & leash (attached to bike) on and walked around working on 'stop' & 'slow'.  Then we walked like that down the drive and into the street (midday there isn't anyone around).  And I started and said slow and right here.  He seemed thrilled and seemed to get it.  We had a few bursts of speed but when I said slow he slowed up.  I was really impressed.  We walk/jog every morning fast enough he can trot but he loves to run so this would be great.  It has taken a while for him to not attack the bike so I am feeling very hopeful.

LOL fish oil is yummy!  When I take my vitamins B comes running over and wants one.  I poke a hole in one end and he is in heaven.  I used to give them to him without poking the hole and he kept going over to my rug and wind up squishing oil out.

I don't think Belle will ever get this either. She HAS to be in front of the bike. I can pace her by slowing the bike down but...If I have her on leash and I speed up to relieve leash pressure she speeds up. Silly dog!

Julie Do you know the name of the fish oil supp you are on? Or is it not told to you since it is a study.

I did clean my bathroom and kitchen yesterday. Man we can be pigs!

I am so tired today and really unmotivated to be at work.  I have had deadline after deadline and it is all of the boring stuff I hate working on so it hasn't been very rewarding....and the state of Texas decided to entend their May 15th deadline on the new Margin tax until June 15th which means I have another month of this Cr*p!  I wasn't supposed to even have to work on the Margin tax stuff b/c of my own deadlines but now my boss wants me by her side the entire time which I am so not in the mood for...and on top of that, she is going to be on vacation for 2 weeks so she seems to think I can't leave at lunch time on Friday's while I am here b/c "we need to get a full day in"...whatever!  I fully intend to leave at lunch time this Friday.  I will have my 40 hours and that is all I am doing!  I don't think I should have to sacrifice my free time b/c she is often not here during normal business hours.  I think I am just in a really bad mood today.  And I'm hungry.

Speaking of which, my first Dr appt is Friday and I can hardly wait anymore.  I am so nervous and excited.  I just hope everything checks out OK.  I had a horrible dream about it last night.

LOL yesterday at one point he sped up and I could feel him pulling me on the bike - zowie the boy has some power and it's nice to not be trying to restrain it Surprise   I'd love to be brave enough to let him just go but alas I fear for my life.

Also I admire you doing it off leash, I still think he'd go after something he wanted and never look backSad

Our first round of the park can be interesting. I try to take her at dinner time or later when less people walking dogs. She does speed up and do a "drive by" if people are out walking their dogs. "Usually" if I speed up and call her she just keeps going, but it can be VERY intimidating when this HUGE black dog comes a running. By the second or third revolution of the park her adrenaline wears down and she is more controllable. She really scares me when I am attached to her for two reasons (well maybe three). First she is FAST and I do not want to go that fast especially attached on a shorter leash (6';). Secondly she crosses in front of the bike, for some reason she likes to, I don't want her that close when she does that. Lastly she is a marking female, she stops on a dime to pee! I am afraid I will jerk her off her feet not being able to stop fast enough.

Belle LOVES to run and just gets all giddy when we get the bike out. I am trying to come up with a better solution. I would really like an illuminated harness so I can run her late when the park is empty. However I can't see her after dark, and that is not good either. A reflective harness wouldn't work not enough light to make it reflect.

Someday it would be fun to let Bugs and Belle run together! Too bad we live hundreds of miles apart.

Lies, good advice about Home Depot or Lowes.  I think either of those places can steer you in the right direction for a DIY project.  As long as the water wasn't on the floor long enough to actually cause the wood to warp, everything should be OK.
