I saw cougar scat at the back of the serviced apartments in Burbank we were staying in when we were in LA. It backed on some nature reserve that was horribly overgrown. I was taking my partner up to show him when we ran into this enormous rattlesnake. Very exciting. There were deer up there on the hill, and a whole lot of dense undergrowth. I found it surprising that people seemed so shocked that a cougar could be in the area as well. We were not far from Griffith Park. I saw more lion scat and loads of deer whilst poking around out near Mullholland, I think it was. Can't remember. Both were old, but I saw plenty of deer and rabbits around, and there was cover, so I can't see why there wouldn't be a cat or two. Wildlife can pop up in all sorts of unexpected places.
