The vet shouldn't charge an office visit for a nail trim. Usually, a vet tech will come do it for $10. Alternatively, you could find a grooming shop. Most anybody in there will happily show you a safe place to trim her nails.

Most Veterinary offices will either charge you a nominal fee (like $5 - $10) or show you for free. You can always call them and ask them. Also, I wouldn't attempt it if you don't have some type of styptic power around. I've heard cornstarch works to stop a cut quick as well.

My sister used those softpaw things for her cats.  Since a cat's nails are withdrawn they stayed on about two weeks I think.  I would think that banging them on the floor all the time would cause them to come loose faster.. I don't know for sure though.

I have taught my dogs to tolerate nail trims with lots of treats.  I started out with a treat after each toe.  Then down to every other toe, then to after each paw.  Takes time but them accepting it is better than a fight.  ;)

I just pay the 5 bucks and have the groomer do it. My corgis nails grow really fast, so I go at least twice a month.
