How many pairs do you have - (mrstjohnson)

OK ladies, and you men too, how many pairs of shoes do you currently own?  DH was helping me dig through my closet this morning to find the mate to my shoe (yeah it's that much of a disaster in there) and he couldn't believe how many pairs of shoes I had, not to mention how many pairs of black shoes I had.  I avoided telling him that I still have shoes at my parent's house that I never moved to our place (we've been married for 7 years). So, what's your stats...

How many pairs do you own? - 50ish

Mostly dressy or casual? - half and half since I wear heels to work

On average, how much do you usually spend? - $25

How much did you spend for the most expensive pair you own? - $65 pair of silver heels I wore to wedding...I love those shoes, but haven't been able to wear them again.

How much did you spend for the cheapest pair you own? - $1.50 pair of flip flops from Walmart that I wear everyday in the summer

How old is the oldest pair that you still will wear? - 14 year old pair of beige heels, still look good as new

Believe it or not I only have 1 pair of shoes. Or do slippers count too? I used to have at least 4 pair always but since having Samantha I just feel guilty buying myself anything if I dont need it. But I have no problem buying Samantha shoes!!!  She has 5 pair. Now how did that happen?

My tennis shoes cost me 50 bucks. Their sketchers.

I have my tall, formal riding boots ($250) and my beloved all-weather, -35*F rated short riding boots ($150).

Then I have my sheepskin Merrell clogs (a gift), my LL bean khaki sneakers ($25ish - also a gift), my running shoes ($50 - super sale, woohoo), one pair of nice semi-formal brown leather shoes ($30), and then about 5 pairs of flip-flops, including my beloved leather Rainbow sandals, which I used to wear every day. I miss California! Crying

I've had my riding boots the longest, I think - 8 years or so now, I think?

Edit: OH! I also just got a super awesome comfortable pair of shoes at REI for $30. They're these shoes, only they were $30 including tax. (Highly recommended! Super comfy!)http://www.amazon.com/Keen-Amsterdam-Womens-by/dp/B000HDOJWK/ref=pd_sbs_a_img_5

I admit that I adore buying shoes and will spend the money for quality:

Pumps for work etc:  9 pairs (4 are black)  I'l spend up to $120 for a good pair

Runners:  1 pair of tennis ($35) and one pair of trail runners ($60)

Sandals:  2 pair, 1 is about 12 years old and I wear them as much as possible

Boots:  1 pair of riding and 1 pair of winter boots, $100 each

Water shoes: 3 pair - needed for lake swimming etc $15 each

I own probably 6 pairs of shoes. All "casual". Most are $20-25 but the Birks were $100 and the hiking boots were probably $120 when I got them (20 years ago). I wear them all when appropriate. If I didn't, I'd toss them.

1 - "Everyday" steel-toed short boots (bought this year)
    1 - Birkenstock's (9 years old) LOL
    1 - Tennis shoes (2 years old)
    1 - Other sandals (2 years old)
1 - Rubber garden shoes (1 year old)
    1 - Hiking boots (20 years old)

    2 crocs clogs (both cheap knock-offs, $10)

4 Old Navy flip-flops, cost $2.50 each and some are a few years old

2 dressy/heeled sandals (one white from my wedding, $7, and one black from a formal event)

1 athletic shoes, had since I was a sophomore in high school (gosh, that's 8 years!)

1 "kennel" boots (big manly winter boots for nasty yard work)

1 pair of Rocket Dog flats, just got them this weekend so I have something in between flip-flop and my leather "winter" work shoes

3 pairs of brown leather shoes, all with pretty thick soles and very good quality.  I'm supposed to only wear these b/c I have arthritis in my foot, the Dr. said I should never wear any shoe with a sole I can bend.  Um, that would be ALL of my other ones!

    ---------

     13 total

The most expensive pair in the bunch is one of the leather pairs.  It retailed for over $85 but I got them on sale for $17, does that still count?  If not, then probably the other two pairs of leather shoes (probably $50-$60 each on sale) or the black heeled sandals.  My cheapest ones are all the Old Navy flip-flops, $2.50 a pair.  The oldest pair are the athletic shoes, 8 years.  Shows how much I run!  All of my shoes are casual except for the two heeled sandals.  I have a very casual job, wouldn't be able to DO my job if I was wearing dressy shoes!

good golly I am a shoe hoarder and very particular about dress shoes so have bought a pair just for an occasion thus have a strong collection of dress shoes.

I won't go and count but I have probably 40-50 pair including my hiking boots, golf shoes, 5 pair of running/trail/walking shoes, sport sandals (keen & teva) birkies and crocs for hanging out and several pair of jeans shoes

I buy quality at discount.  I hate paying full price for anything so I watch the sales and shop places like TJMaxx etc.  It helps that I wear a 10-11 so an 'odd' size.

Man - I feel like a whack job with my 50ish pairs.  Maybe DH is right Indifferent

    I have....lemme see

    Total: 5-7 I think?

    Mostly casual

    average is about $13-25

    Most expensive were $56

    Cheapest $12 sandals

Oldest? I think I have a pair of heels that's around 3 years old. I don't typically have real old ones cuz I throw them out when I buy something new that is similar in any way.

LOL! Carla, you have me beat by one pair.

I have five. I buy all my footwear from the thriftstores, except for my flip-flops. Don't think Iv'e paid more than 6 bucks in the past ten years.

I'm a scruffy nature child, and like it that way. I probably don't spend more than $200 dollars per year on clothes.

Fortunately, our thrift stores are awesome!

For me, shoes are a necessity but not a fashion statement.  I guess I have about 5 pairs:  1 pair of Avia walking shoes, about $65 - 1 pair of black loafer type shoes with a 1-1/2" heel (for those dressy occasions that call for the black jeans without holes in the knees), about $25 at Kohls - 1 pair of purple crocs, $25 at Gottschalks - 1 pair of sandals from PayLess, about $12 - 1 pair of sandals from WalMart, about $8.

How many pairs do you own? - 12 I think, no, 14...hard to say.

Mostly dressy or casual? - casual, only 3 dressy

On average, how much do you usually spend? - haha, used to be 3 bucks!  LOL I worked at Wally in the shoe department so I knew when the shoes hit final clearance.  Now.... probably $20ish.

How much did you spend for the most expensive pair you own? - $165 I guess, those are my -60 Sorels.  Hey, I live in NW Ontario for Pete's sake, warm boots are not an option!

How much did you spend for the cheapest pair you own? - $3.95 Gold flip flops that make my feet look tanned, hehe.

How old is the oldest pair that you still will wear? - 3 years maybe?

    I'm adding a 2 questions.

Of the shoes you own, how many do you actually wear on a semi often basis? 4

How many do you cringe at when you think of putting them on, but keep them cause they look good and some day you might get around to breaking them in? 2

Don't, I am right there with you! LOL

I have about 10 pairs of flip flops -- old navy, croc, rocket dog, nothing fancy in this category

20 pairs of work shoes - some flats, some low heels, some high heels

Dress and "going out shoes" - probably 10 pairs, ranging from wedding shoes to strappy sandals, etc.

Boot?Sneakers/Outdoor shoes - 10ish pairs - muck boots, 3 pairs of riding boots, hiking boots, sneakers, trail shoes, going out boots, etc.

I think I know why there are shoes all over my house now. Time for a little spring cleaning!

Candace, love the last question!  I think I finally gave the two pair I had but hated to Goodwill.  One pair, a white dress sandal, I'd had since around 1992 that I wore a lot down South when I went to church.  Old people don't care what your shoes look like and let me tell you they were dorky with a capital D.  The others were about 8 years old, a pair of Navy blue pumps that had removeable bows.  I needed them for work but hated them.

I have 12 pairs that are mostly casual or dress-casual shoes.  I have a EE width, so there are no "cheap shoes" for me, though I watch for clearance sales like a hawk.  I have 3 dressy pairs of shoes, and 2 pairs of boots (one a hiker and the other snow boots).  I think the most I've paid was $129 + tax for a pair of Munro Americans, which are about 10 years old and I still have and wear at least once a week.

I have never counted my shoes. I have probably about 15 to 20 pair. Most are dress type I bought to go with a special outfit for a special occasion so I don't wear them offen. I still have the outfits so I still have the shoes. Mostly I have 2 pair for work (black and brown boring huh!), then I have my comfy athletic shoes. Those are what I wear the most.

My most expensive pair of shoes would have to be my two pair of custom made Dehner riding boots. I got my first pair in 1977 (still fit) and paid $185, I bought a new pair 10+years ago and paid $750 for them. My paddock boots that I ride in daily were custom made too. They were only a couple hundred dollars, the ready to made are not much cheaper so I went for better fit and quality. My custom riding apparel are the absolute most comfortable shoes I own.
