    I am FUMING (Neighbor Vent)

This morning, as I was getting Kenzie in her highchair, I noticed something in my backyard.  At first I thought it was a cat but soon the horror of what I was looking at hit me.  It was my neighbor's dashund that has somehow gotten into my yard.  I say horror because what was a normal healthy dog 6 weeks ago was now a dog that had EVERY bone in its body showing.  I mean EVERY bone, there was no fat or muscle on this dog.

I had seen animals in this condition on Animal Cops but seeing this first hand sent me into shock.  I was shaking and crying cause I was so mad.  I called Animal Control and told them needed to get to my house ASAP and they said they were on their way.

I got a towel and went outside.  Even with the towel I could feel the bones on this poor thing.  It was shaking so bad and I noticed that there was a chunk (about the size of a dime) of  its left ear missing. Its nails were so long that it was having trouble walking.   I sat with the dog on my lap and waited for the Animal Control, the whole time crying my eyes out.  I kept on my porch so my neighbors couldn't see me cause I did not want them to try and take the dog back.  I also did this cause if I would have seen any of them I would have gone ballistic on them.

The Animal Control officer was shocked when she saw the condition of the dog as well.  She got on her radio and told them she was going straight to the vet with this one.

I KNOW that the condition of this dog is from neglect and not from something else.  They have a new puppy so this old guy just got pushed to the side.  I know that he is an older dog and I have never seen them take it to a vet.  I truly believe they were starving it so it would die and just "go away".  I told AC about the other dog and they said they were going to come back and check on the condition of the other dog and hopefully press charges for animal abuse pending the vet check.

I still can't believe it and hope I don't see my neighbors any time soon!

OMG! That poor, poor thing. You definitely did the right thing. I hope Animal Control keeps up with these horrible neighbors.

More than anything Amy you did what very few people want to do these days which is get involved AND take action.  This horrid family is now on record and that poor dog is getting medical attention and a neglect history for its file.  The pup left behind should be followed up on because of what you reported.  While I am very sorry for you that this happened, in a way this poor dog found its way to you to be saved.  Bless you one hundred times over...

Good for you Amy!  How lucky that little guy is that you found him and that AC was there to help.  Here where I live in TN there isn't any AC and we have to take matters in our own hands.  But I am also lucky that most of the people I live around take good care of their dogs.  I wish there were more people like you in the world!

Bless you Amy for caring.   Hope everything works out for the dogs' benefit.

I won't say what I would like to do to the owners though!!! [sm=angry.gif]

Good for Amy, many people would not have gotten involved. You did a great thing and I am sure you saved this little guys life.

As far as your neighbors go....people never cease to amaze me sometimes

I hope you don't have to see the losers any time soon, either, Amy, but when you do you can hold your head high while they scramble back into whatever hole they crawled out of.  Their lack of commitment to that dog is reprehensible - I'm seething right there with you||!

This poor baby found an angel in you Amy, and you should be very proud of yourself for taking action and standing up for this poor dog, hopefully he is on the way to a home that deserves his love.  I agree, if ever you see your neighbors, hold your head high and revel in the fact that you saved a life and there is nothing these pitiful people can do now to hurt this boy.

Amy, you were MEANT to be there for this little guy! Let's hope these scumbags get everything they deserve.  They will probably say he got in a scuffle with the puppy since he's got an ear wound.  As for the ribs, "Gee, we feed him all the time!"  yeah, RIIIIIIIGHT.

One good thing has come out of this: you have saved the puppy from the same fate.  The poor older guy will never suffer at the hands of thses monsters again.

Also, little dogs find homes quickly, so I would suspect that he will be rehomed quickly!

Do you know how this little one is doing?  Is AC allowing you to keep up with his progress?

I think it was fate that this little dog found its way into your yard to be saved.  You are a wonderful person for helping him.  Its great that you AC officer is taking steps to see that those people will be punished. I wish every area had an AC officer that is that committed.

Amy--Thank God you spotted him!  Who knows how long he would of been able to go on like that.  It's shocking to see it up close, the starvation, isn't it??  I was also totally taken aback by Willow when I first got her.

Bravo Amy!!! You did  a great service to the world of dogs!

Wouldn't it be great if someone broke into their house and stole every bite of people food in the place?

Amy, bless you!!!  It definately was fate that brought the little one into your yard.  I hope she's doing better & that your neighbors suffer the same fate as they had planned for her.

Bravo for you Amy! I will never be able to understand how people can be so utterly devoid of having feelings for their  ;pets. I hope they have the puppy taken away and at least pay a fine.
