Pitbull poll

Wow that is harsh dont you think? Have you ever even met a pittie? We just got one in her a couple of days ago and he is a very sweet boy with lots of love to give.
Now pit bull fighting should be banned forever in every country, but dont punish the dog for human idiocy.

Ban pitties?  Why in the world would you say such a thing?  What have they ever done to you?  I have my 2 pitties and I AM NOT about to give them up because some people don't like them or are scared of them.  If everyone would take the time and get to know pitties, then everyone would see that these dogs are not the monsters that the media makes them out to be.  They are VERY loving dogs.

What an ignorant statement. I can't even imagine a remark like that!!!!!!
    • Gold Top Dog
I can imagine a response though.  Too bad it's not a family friendly one.  I'll just have to stick with my little red hand.

Be careful, you're showing your ignorance

Chester, I am appalled with your statement.

Would you care to elaborate on your thoughts for us so that we can clear up any misconceptions you may have, and try to educate you a bit?

What is your breed of dog? Please know that with breed specific legislation, your dog could be next.

BSL makes sweeping generalizations, like yours, and allows the law to state that race predicts behavior, and we should all know that this is simply not true, and lets the government get away with atrocities.

Not only does it make unfair and untrue generalizations about one breed of dog, but it pulls a ton of others into its grip with the phrase "pit bull type dog". Many dogs are far too frequently misidentified as APBTs, or "pit bulls". This misidentification of guardian breeds (which the pit bull is not) contributes to the "bad rap" while hurting dogs of many breeds.

Please try your hand at this:http://www.pitbullsontheweb.com/petbull/findpit.html I challenge you to find the pit bull, and you will see what I mean.

[sm=feedtroll.gif]   I can't think of any other  reason why someone would post such an inflammatory statement...Don't let it get to you.
    • Gold Top Dog
Polly, I was just getting ready to post that!!
    • Gold Top Dog
Well, let that information speak to anyone who may choose to check it out.

    Great minds...[;)]

    Absolutely....thanks for the info.

I missed it too.  I got something about "Edmonton's bad drivers" who BTW can't possibly be any worse than drivers in CA.  But, had I been able to vote, I would have voted "NO."

Folks, [sm=feedtroll.gif]!  Enough said?  I hope.....

Sweeping generalizations against any breed are like sweeping generalizations against people.  Completely unwarranted.

If we don't allow someone to stir our pot, the effort is wasted, and will perhaps extinguish, just like it does when we ignore misbehavior in our dogs.

L.F. Chester, didn't you post in another thread that you have an Ovchartka? If that is the case, you should be the last person advocating for bans on breeds of dogs that are popularly believed to be dangerous. Ovchartkas are typically described as extremely protective dogs that often exhibit dog aggression. If you really do own an Ovchartka, I think it's amazingly shortsighted that you would be so quick to condemn another breed with similar temperament characteristics as your own dog. Your dogs could easily be next.

If you think your own dog is sweet despite his breed, why couldn't the same be true for a pit bull?
