I don't do "babytalk", but I find it's physically impossible for me to talk to kids under like..5, and animals in my normal voice. I have to "sweeten it up" a bit, which means it's a little higher, and a little sillier. Otherwise I feel like I'm reprimanding them or something.
I do talk to them normally (I used to have the HARDEST time talking to babies..seriously, I felt so friggin ridiculous..then I got used to it, and now I have full conversations with them..okay, half conversations, since they don't talk back
), just not in my normal voice.
My nephew's grandmother (sister's mother-in-law? brother-in-law's mother? take your pick of titles lol) is the WORST with babytalk. I've never seen her around animals, but with kids..whew. "Iz jou firsty, iz jou??" (are you thirsty) "Youz gotshor bah-bah?" (do you have your bottle..). lol. It's literally sickening.
