Feeling REAL good and wanted to share

    OOOOH.

    Double post!

Hi Lori - thanks.  yep, I've read only 5 - 10% organ meat. I actually use a little less since one of Prancers favorite training treats is freeze dried liver.  I've been using the guidelines from the b-naturals site while waiting for Monica's books to arrive.  After that I'll probably be using 50% of each method.    I don't think that homecooking should be taken lightly.   Since our dogs are completely dependant on us to supply their meals, and can't cook for themselves (they lack opposable thumbs LOL)  we have to go the extra yard and ensure that we're doing it right.   I've spent about 90 hours in research so far (and I'm not finished !).

(ps - written for those thinking of homecooking who might not realize the implications)

    Oh,  yeah.  I understand.

I know you guys are really on top of things.  But, when I was doing it it seemed like every week or so I'd learn some new thing that I hadn't read about.

There is so much info out there and differing opinions it's hard to keep up sometimes.  I don't want to make anyone mad or give the impression I think you guys don't know what your doing.  [:)]

Mad ? heck no !  We all have the same goal - keeping our furbabies happy and healthy [:D]

Oh, good! [:)] I just get nervous because it's hard to know just by seeing words how someone is taking things sometimes.

Someone had said they taught their dog to heel by starting with the *touch* command.

    I think that was me.

Anyway, congratulations on your progress. And congrats to Jewlieee. Shadow is Husky in temperment and metabolism and some physiology. And getting a dog that is bred to pull hard out in front to heel seems like a miracle. But it is the power of operant condition, IMHO, that shows how we can lead.

Hi Ron - YES - it WAS you !!! its awful how I remember avatars better than names !   Thanks a mil for the "heel" lesson - it worked SO well with Prancer.  Its like a MIRACLE.   She may be little but she can do her share of pulling.  And "come" - pfttt - but heel is 100% (we're at only minor distractions tho) and TOUCH is working as a great way to get her to come.
    I owe you !
