    Great News

I had my own bit of good news to share but something even greater happened.

Feb 14, 2008 our grandaughter was born. 8:57 pm. 5 lbs 12 oz. Malia is her name. What kind of name is that, you wonder? Well, her dad is of strong scottish descent. So, there ya go.

Also, on a less grandiose note, on Wednesday, I traded in my truck on a new car. A 2007 Pontiac Vibe. Today, I filled up from a somewhere over half a tank to full for $13. I'm in love with that idea. The savings in gas will pay most of the car payment, which includes the entire kit and kaboodle warranties and health and life coverage. But I really bought it for the cd player. Just like I had bought my old truck for the cup holders.

The only pic I got is of the car. Grandbaby sometime later. In a few months, we plan to fly them to south Texas to visit with DW's parents who will get to see their first great-grandbaby.

The only downer is that I have been suffering a cold this week. Wednesday was the day they were bringing a helicopter (chinook) to set a/c units on the roofs of the school I am working on and their safety regs do not allow anyone in the building while this was going on. So, I asked my supervisor if I could just take the whole day off. The tranny on my truck was acting up, I put a rebuilt motor in it last year and I figured, if I am going to be paying money for a long time, I might as well be buying something new.

But, I've been drinking Dayquil like water and hammering through the workday, in spite of the cold conditions, etc. DW made some spicy soup which usually helps. That and freshly ground ginger tea, which really does help one's throat.

    ETA:

The other funny thing that happened today. I wa trying to open one of the storage containers that has the electrical panel interiors. Some have a top feed, or primary lugs on top with feed-through on the bottom but I have to know if we're going to punch the right size holes from enclosure to enclosure. Anyway, one lever on the door likes to stick. I need something to bang on it. So, I was ripping a slat off of a wooden pallet and it finally came free, bonking me on the nose. And I bled, too. I tried to dress it up. Told a few people I was mouthing off to an apprentice and got pimp-slapped hard, but, no, it's funnier when you do it to yourself.

Ron - CONGRATULATIONS on your new granddaughter!!!!  What a special day to be born!!!!  How sweet!!  Hope mom and baby are doing well and basking in the love!

(Bummer about your nose and being sick, but, heck, you have enough positive new things in you life - new Vibe and new Malia - to make those things seem so little.)

Most times, when a bug bites me, the bug dies. But, it's not helping that I'm out in the cold wind and nasty weather we're having. But I've got to work.

Congratulations on Malia.  There is nothing quite as special as grandchildren.  I have three and they add so much to life.  Also congratulations on your new car.  I really do like it.  Have lots of fun with both new additions.

Congratulations on both counts, and many wishes for much happiness.

Thanks, everyone. One of the things I like about this forum as that we do carry each others' burden and rejoice in each others bounty.
