Bill Clinton Falls Asleep During MLK Speech!!!

I just figure if he's important enough to attend a big speech and sit in a primary spot behind the speaker, don't you think he's still important enough tobe held to the "high standard" of actually sitting up during the speech? Just IM(NS)HO

I don't put anyone on a pedastal myself, give anyone I don't know personally that deliniation of "important". Given the idiot in charge now...it's obvious they are people just like me, who get bored, mess up speeches, almost walk off stages,....I don't think much about it at all, actually.

In the beginning of the video I seriously feel for the guy (I mean, who among us hasn't felt like that at least once?), but once he realized he was nodding off, there are plenty of things he could have done to wake himself up a bit. Sat up a little straighter, pinched himself, chewed on some gum, bit his tongue... sure, he's not the President anymore, but as a public figure who was giving a speech that day, he certainly should be held to a higher standard than random people in the audience (who, IMO, also owe it to the speaker to at least feign attention).

Probably just my personal feelings. I was always the "if I'm too tired to pay attention in class I just won't go" type.

I don't know if it was because he is an ex-pres that he should be embarrassed, but the fact that the congregation took enough time to invite him, etc. and he fell asleep.  It was just rude, no matter whom he was/is.  I also read that this may be a ploy to get the press off of Hilary's back.  With the press focused on him, they will stop ripping on her and other candidates will have less press time.  I guess she did the same thing when he was running.  The press spent so much time investigating her etc. they weren't focusing on him.  Politics...yuck!

Trust me, I've been there (trying to stay awake).  I actually fell dead asleep during a conference call before with hand still holding the receiver.  They had to page me to wake me up in my office...try to explain that one to your client...

Now, this is just one article and I by no means claiming that I am some time of political analyst...I leave that up to DH who is the person that sent me the link.  Personally, I wouldn't trust any of them (politicians) to take out my trash, they are just different degrees of corruption...

LOL...that was a good read. I can see it...Bill is great at protraying the buffoon but unlike Bush I do not think he is actually that stupid. Makes sense...a lot, actually...look at this thead after all, lol.

I did see a lot of Hilary in the news today tho...something about her and Obama being not so nice during a debate...what else is new?

I don't think we should be held accountable for the position we fall into when we doze off ... unless we actually roll off the chair and land on the floor. Big Smile

Now that would have been hilarious!

Okay... the sleeping itself doesn't really bother me... but honestly, his posture? Super offensive. Everything about the way he is sitting is saying, "I don't want to be here and I couldn't care less about this place, the people attending, or the person speaking." If you're going to carry yourself that way, better to simply not attend the function. The attitude is highly offensive and disrespectful, IMO.

I dont' know...maybe your right on this...but to me he looks like he is settled in for a long speech..perhaps a long few speeches.

It is funny to see,,,I have to admit. Probably what makes it twice as funny and knowing how many times I have done that in church for instance...and was hoping no one noticed..including the priest/minister.

That said...he knew the camera was on him and yet he didn't do a thing to wake himself up. It took the longest time and several noddings before he even changed positions on the chair.   THAT was stupid.

And now,,,I almost feel kind of sorry for him that this is all over the news.  Oh well..it isnt' the worst thing he got caught at.......LOL!

Or drool....maybe someone will fix the video so we get some drool...CG drool!
