Hey...we get newsworthy weather out here too :)

Sheesh... I'm so glad we don't have anything exciting going on here! My friend that lives in NH laughs when I say we got 5 or 6 inches of snow because they get a foot or more of snow... makes me rethink going there till spring or summer! Glad all of you out in cali are ok! Sounds like you got things taken care of at just the right time Cathy! Unfortunately, we never know when the power might go out... sometimes wind/snow/rain causes it... or someone drives into a power pole lol Hope all in Cali are a OK!

Did you have a cell phone for emergencies?

Oh yes.  In its usual place and condition - the bottom of my purse with a dead battery. Embarrassed We (me and DS #2) tried to go out to dinner on Friday night.  Strings had no power and the restaurants that did had overflowing parking lots and people jammed in the doorway - the result of the wonderful combination of Friday night and a town without power.  So we came home and I lit a couple of burners - boiled some Angel Hair pasta and stir fried up a bag of Schwans Ceasar Parmesan Shrimp to put on it. I decided not to do any complaining when the 10 p.m. news last night said over 10,000 people in Davis were still without power. I met a woman on the bike path this a.m. when I was walking Max and she told me she still doesn't have any.  I agree 100% - SMUD/PGE have shifts working around the clock and I think they're doing the best they can to get things up and running.  Then - I think of the people in the midwest who had to deal with that ice storm and be without power for up to two weeks and I feel bad about complaining at all.  But I do it anyway.

Well the only weather news for Flooor-daaa is last Thursday morning it was 31 here which, my Brit husband checked, was colder than SCOTLAND! LOL

And in Daytona Beach -- someone saw SNOW .. yeah yeah in the air -- not on the ground -- but heck, that's news for Daytona!!!!

I'm glad everyone is well -- I'm not lording it over anyone, we've had our share of storms.

We got your storm Friday night.  I heard the winds picking up about midnight but slept through it.  It was strong enough to blow down trees and knock a panel out of my fence.  I couldn't figure out how the dogs got into the backyard.

OK.. I admit I couldn’t figure out what all the fuss was about until midnight last night when I experienced 4 hours straight of winds like I have NEVER experienced living in southern CA.

    WOW… unreal!

I feel so bad for the dogs who have gotten robbed of their walks the last few days.  They have had so little exercise and I don’t know how I am gonna leave them today for work. Sad

Um hmm...I thought the same thing before it hit. I thought the weather folks were just hyping it all up and it wouldn't be bad at all. I sat in my house for several hours thinking the next gust was going to blow over a tree or fence or ???. It had that sound like they describe for hurricanes. The wind truly sounded like a train coming thru. DH was covering the area where 2 semi trucks tipped over. The drivers weren't hurt in either case, but I guess it was quite a site to see. My brother lives in Carmel and said the waves were crashing over the road and people who'd lived there for 30+ years said they'd never seen it like that before.

    I'm sooooo glad it's over :)

How much snow did you get?  My DH just told me today California got 3-5 ft.(??) something like that, something really surreal.  He said Colorado, in some areas got 6ft. of snow.

We don't get snow here (usually), so it was just lots and lots of rain and wind. Up higher though, they got a ton of snow. This is from Kirkwood Ski Resort and they always get the most, but Heavenly got 95" and the others got 50+" and another storm is coming thru tonight. It's definitely a dream come true for a lot of people :)

    New Snow In Last:

    24 HR: 6" (15 cm)

    48 HR: 60" (152 cm)

    72 HR: 132" (335 cm)

Someone here was actually quoted as saying "Well, people knew it was coming and they knew it was going to be bad, so  they should have been better prepared."  And I'm thinking - for how many weeks now have we been listening to the weatherman predicting storms that never came? I finally just figured I'd believe it when I heard  the rain on the roof.

True Joyce, the never predict anything accurate here.  I know they have problems all over  the country, but it seems like we never have any accurate forecasts.

I felt the exact same way and even told my boss I was probably worrying for nothing when I asked to work from home Friday. I honestly don't think the weather folks thought it'd be as bad as it was. Today they're calling for 30-40 mph winds again, and IF they're right, that could mean more damage from falling trees and they haven't finished cleaning up the ones from last week.

Yay! Everyone is safe and sound... and yeah ANOTHER storm.  We are getting some snow right now :)  keeping driving interesting.  They have several roads and area's of roads closed due to high winds and black ice.  They have a long stretch of road closed, and if people absolutely HAVE to get by, they are being escorted by police and going 5 mph.  ... how's that for getting nowhere fast.

Another round... whoo-hoo! :) lol I love storms.  But not when they affect the quality of life (i better still have electric and internet!)

I hope that the winds aren't too bad there guys!
