    April - February 2, 2000 - December 11, 2007

This morning at 10:00 a.m. our dear little dog, April was put to sleep to end her suffering and pain.  Tony and I are both devastated, we did everything we could to keep her but there came the time where it was no long possible to let her suffer anymore.  Something had happened to her spine and they wanted us to bring her back, at which time, they would probably want to operate again, she could not have stood the ride of 2 hours and we were not going to put her through anymore pain, she had suffered enough.  She is running free with the other dogs and free of all pain.  Tony and I were with her at the end, she went very quietly.  Bless her dear little heart, I will miss her terribly, the pain is almost unbearable.  Thanks for all your concerns and help when she was ill.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

    My Darling Little Girl

Oh Auburn, I'm in tears.  I'm so very very sorry and I know your pain and sorrow.    Your decision was an act of love and was the most unselfish thing you could have done for her.   You've replaced her pain with your own.  I know that April is watching you and thanking you from the bridge, where she's free from pain and is running freely again.     Keep her in your heart and know that you were the most loving parents to her.  We're all here to offer support to help you in your own healing.

I'm so very sorry to hear this. You truly did do everything you could to help her, but most of all you gave her tons of love and tenderness. I know the pain you're feeling and I hope that the wonderful memories will help ease your suffering in the days ahead. Run free April.

Oh Auburn, I'm so so sorry. I was really expecting a full recovery.  Seven and a half years is really too short of a time to spend with a beloved companion.   I'm sure she is thankful that she is free of pain and can run and play again.  She really was a delightful little girl; everyone could see that even over the internet.

Oh Auburn Crying I'm so sorry it had to come to that, but you know you did the best thing for her.  I'm sure that you being there at the end meant the world to her.  She knew you loved her dearly and now you know that she's pain-free.
