    April - Udate 2

I called the hospital last night around 7:00, they had had April out for a potty break, she is walking on all fours, still a bit wobbly but walking.  They have taken her off the I.V. and she had eaten some chicken breast, the first that she has eaten so they were pleased with her.  Tomorrow, weather permitting we will be bringing her home, we will leave about 8 am tomorrow morning we can pick her up between 10 and ll.  Hoping all goes well tomorrow.  Thanks always for your prayers and concerns for my pup.  I'll write more in a few days after we have her home and settled in.  She will be on complete bed rest for six weeks, so she will need a lot of care.

Glad to hear the report! We worry so much about our canine babies. My pup is on the back side of a six week bed rest, it is hard but you can do it. It might be harder on the humans than the dogs. Just my opinion. :-) Good Luck April, don't scare your mommy any more.

I am happy to see that little April is recuperating well after her operation. Yipee for her being able to come home tomorrow. Sending you both good thoughts and special ear scritches for April.

    Have an easy recovery April!

If you have problems keeping her still I heard there is something called ACE that would help.  I really don't know anything about it, maybe it's not good, I'm not sure.  Maybe someone on here could tell you or you could ask the vet.  I'm sure many people on here have suggestions on making the bed rest as easy as possible.

Glad she did well and hoping for a really quick recovery for her.  Drive carefully, and enjoy having your girl back with you where she belongs.Smile

It really DOES work so so so well to give meds in.  The pills smush in easily and yet it's 'slippery' so it slides down easily.

Billy's newest favorite is baby food (I had to find something less fatty b/c of the pancreatitis at least for a while) -- and I just bought a box of plastic spoons to use.  At this point I bought babyfood green beans and squash and mix those with the meats and it's all VERY popular LOL.

He knows there are meds in there -- and all 3 get a bit of it.  But that way any one of them will take meds in a heartbeat.  No biggie -- it's a treat!! (so might as well be a healthy one).

April - its so good to hear that you'll be coming home.   Good girl for walking and eating Smile

Auburn - Prancer is on crate rest also.   I tell her she's on vacation in her special cabin with lots of room service !   Prancer has separation anxiety (I can't even leave the room !) so it helps if the crate is positioned so she can see me 80% of the time .    Like someone else said, the craterest is probably worse for us then it is for them - Prancer is content in her crate while I feel like a heel for having to keep her there.   We take a few huggy breaks during the day and at night she'll actually sit on my lap or lay quietly on the sofa with me (something she NEVER did before).   She's been on crate rest for 3 weeks.  The first week was the hardest for me - just keep reminding yourself that its for her healing.  I've found that this (3rd) week I've been MUCH more comfortable with her being crated - it takes some getting used to.   At least April is a cuddler, so she'll be able to spend time with you even while on bed rest.

Keep us posted - I'll bet tomorrow can't come fast enough for either of you !
