I agree with Gina, let's not make this about doctors... pretty please?

I'm so glad, Emily!!  Whew!  Do what you need to do to feel comfortable.

    YAY!

Thanks so much everyone. I really appreciate your responses. I was talking to my MIL about the very exact thing regarding our sue-happy society. That it makes some doctors overly cautious to avoid lawsuits.

Meri is happy as a lark today! I spoke to a woman from LLL and she thinks that meri's growth is totally fine. I'm going to also contact a lactation consultant and set up an appt with them to make sure I'm doing everything I can. Perhaps if I just relate my feelings with my doctor she will know where i stand and it will get better. If it doesn't then that really does make it clear that I should go somewhere else. Thanks again everyone!

Didn't even think of that but yes....talking is often a GREAT way to sort things out Smile cuddles to the little one.

I think this is a great idea!!! Often people think they are being helpful when they are just freaking you out :) I'm glad everything is ok.

    ??????? um ok sure

my experience. its a fact. and hasnt been the only time its happened to me and others.. i guess it depends who is in charge. there is a major difference if you've got coverage believe it or not.

and yes sorry no rants on doctors..

i agree that seeing a lactation consultant would be a good idea. especially if you're questioning the method your doctor is going by. babies dont have to be fat. with my son's the doctor would always ask if i was still breast feeding, the answer was always yes, and he would only say "Good" never a mention about their weights or if they were growing too slowly. for a long time Cajah didnt seem to go past 18lbs... i was worried, but the doctor said there was nothing to worry about. just to keep doing what i was doing.

Great idea! I know for me with my vet, for example, I feel a lot better if the vet mentions any possible issue at all and tests "just to be sure." Because I don't freak out with stuff like that, but I *do* freak out if I'm wondering whether or not we should have gotten a test or taken a look or something like that. If your doctor thinks she is helping your peace of mind, but is actually doing the opposite, it might take just a brief convo to get her to change her ways :) Good luck!

Glad to hear that Meri is doing well.

I would prefer a doctor who is thorough even if it does cause a little stress.
