    Beagles # 1 and SHELTIES....#8? *snort*

Strange list huh Gina.  Anyway Shelties aren't noisy they are vocally expressive!!!  Timmy seems to fall down the well a lot cause they are always telling me about it.

What?  No Huskies?  Actually my two aren't bad, Onyx barks at strangers, and Crusher and I can get to chatting, but on a whole they arent bad.

The list is in Alphebetical order.  I wonder what it would be if it was ranked.

    Don't forget the howling.....lol

If there were more of them out there, I would have put AKKs on the list.  Everything and anything MUST have Honor's vocal seal of approval!

And I agree, Rotties and Dobes aren't the most vocal dogs.  I was surprised to see them there.  I like how it's just grouped "Terriers". Stick out tongue

I sure agree witht he collies. Although Blaze isnt that huge on barking, unless there is somthing to bark at

    -Chasing a ball

    -lazer pinter

    -door

    -other dogs

-Me just for the heck of it.

You get my sarcasim. I think the only time he isnt barking is when he is sleeping, AND then he is whimpering with his legs moving in his sleep lol

Just wanted to make sure that Shelties and Beagles are on the list. lol Actually every hound I've known is really noisy with a LOUD baying bark. And Dachshunds should definitely be in the top 10 noisiest dogs!

It always seemed to me that the smaller the dog, the louder they are.  I don't know if that's really true or just my own experience.  I know the dog before Max (lab/cocker - on the small side) was a real yapper.  We had to keep the doggy door locked at night unless it was raining or he would have  been out in the yard barking at birds flying by.  Max rarely barks at anything except the leaf blower.

I don't agree with GSD's being on that list. I've had two of them and they never barked without a good reason.  my friend's GSD doesn't bark either.

I don't have enough experience with most of those breeds to give a good opinion, but there is a freaking noisy toy poodle in my new building that barks all day every day. Don't they get hoarse?

My mom has a standard poodle with seperation issues and I can tell you - no, they don't get hoarse.

WHERE are the Chihuahuas? They have an opinion on EVERYTHING and are not afraid to tell you!

All the Rotties I have known have been quiet unless they were announcing that someone was coming to the door.  Same with Dobermans  and GSDs. Shelties, IMHO are #1 on the list and Beagles are #2. In our last house, our neighbors have FOUR Shelties.  They barked every time a leaf blew across the yard...Sad

As for the  terriers, Am Staffs are very quiet.  Smooths, OTOH are talkers as are the Carins and Yorkies I know.

Dont agree with that list at all...I have always had Shepherds and all have been pretty quiet

We are on our second cairn terrier and neither one was/is a barker/noisy.  Our current cairn "talks" to me, (roooo, rooo, roo), but is not noisy. He does not even bark when the doorbell rings, just runs to the door happy to see what other "buddy of the world, there are no strangers" is here. In my neighborhood the noisiest dogs are the ones left in yards day after day with little to no interaction.  That would be a beagle and a lab.

Believe it or not, I'm impressed Elkhounds were even listed, but only because they aren't that well known.  In fact, the reason I looked at this thread was to see if they made the list!  LOL  I'm with the others about the GSDs, Rotts and Dobes.  I haven't met a noisy one of any of those breeds yet.  Now the Britts and the Britt/Lab across the street- they bark for hours on end when their owners aren't home.  Oh, and I, too was wondering where the Chihuahua and Siberian Husky were on the list, and the Poms, too.
