Classes, sports and titles?

First I don't consider my dogs working dogs.  My living doesn't depend on their abilities so that is the definition of working to me.  They both have the CGC's and have passed herding instinct tests.  I do agility with both and we basically do AKC as I spend enough money there and don't need to spend more.   Sprite has her UAG-1, NA, NAJ, OA, OAJ, AXJ, MXJ, NAP, NJP, OAP, OJP, AXP AJP, MJP, MJP2, MJP3, MJP4, MJP5, MJP6.  Timmy has his NA, NAJ, OA, OAJ, AX, AXJ, MX, MXJ, MACH1, MACH2 and is 95 points from MACH3.  They both did therapy visits to nursing homes in the past before I burned out on doing it.  I have considered taking them into obedience and rally but really haven't found the time or motivation to get them ready for the ring.

I don't know about AKC but in USDAA, once you earn the higher title, you drop the previous ones.  See my sig for ours.

Yes in their name you only list the highest title but we weren't talking about the dogs sig line.  But I was just listing their accomplishments.  After all most people wouldn't know that to get a MACH for example you have to go thru 8 titles to get there.

The other day an acquaintance put the 101st title on her dog Flash!!  I can't even think of 101 titles that a single dog can get, lol.

According to Kenya's breeder who did some digging, she apparently also holds the record for performance titles on a Basset.

I will definitely be tapping into her expertise for some agility mentoring!!

If you compete in all the different agility organizations I could see where it is possible.  There are so many titles available that are variations of games in some of these.  Just look at AKC herding, you have ducks, sheep, cattle on 3 different courses at several different levels and in agility where there is 27 different titles before you start going into the numbers for certain top end titles.

She may hold the record for the most titles but there has been only 1 MACH basset as of the last published MACH list.  That is Peanut down here in Florida.  Know the lady who owns her.  She worked years with that dog to accomplish that.  Peanut was almost 8 when she earned it.

Isis the Basset is CATCH, is that similar?  I know she does AKC agility with all of her dogs, but I think she does more CPE and other venues than AKC.  Her Border Terrier is a MACH, the GR (above) might be as well.

I really haven't done CPE so I can't tell you if the level of difficulty is the same as the AKC Mach or not.  Maybe someone with CPE experience can chime in.  The difficulty level to get a championship title between organizations does vary.

Based on what I've seen, it looks a little easier except there's so many different courses, not just the Standard and Jumpers, I could be wrong though.  However, I don't know what you have to do to get a CATCH or how CPE points work.  I'll have to ask her about it next time I see her.

    Good point!

In CPE, the CATCH is equivalent to AKC in level, though I'm not sure about difficulty.  Level 3 CPE is about the same as Novice in USDAA and AKC.  (friends have told me about AKC because I don't personally know.)

My dogs all have their CGC. Maxine has a Dock Dog Regional Novice Jumper title, and Ultimate Air Dog III Novice Jumper (she completed the nov jumper title 3 times in one year). Belle has an Ultimate Air Junior Jumper title with me, and an UA Senior Jumper with DH, she has 3 legs towards her Dock Dog National Junior title. Teddi only got to complete twice, she may have legs towards a Splash Dog title I am not sure I should look into that.

We plan to start Belle competing in agility over the summer. We have to see what Teddi's future in agility holds for her. She "may" be able to do preferred jumpers with weaves, but we will have to see.

I feel so LOST!! Maze doesn't have any titles but I want to compete in agility with her in the future.. But I have NO idea what all the abv. titles mean.. I only know CGC which is the Canine Good Citizen right?

Yup! As for Emma's title, RN means "Rally Novice". RA is "Rally Advanced". You have to qualify three times (I think under three judges, maybe two?) to get a Rally or Obedience title, in the AKC, until you get to the bigger titles.

    • Gold Top Dog

Wow! That seems like a lot of work.. Lol.

    • Gold Top Dog

It's a LOT of work, and Em isn't even into the big titles. We're just beginningSmile It's worth every second, every penny, every invite I've skipped out on to work with my dog. We love it. Our relationship has gotten MUCH better, and she's a much happier dog. Competing is good for usWink

Congrats!  I *think* it's two different judges.
