Who would you leave you dogs to if you died?

Max would go to my best friend since 4th. grade.  She has a lot of dogs she's rescued (she usually finds them wandering on Hwy. 101 or one of her kids finds one and brings it to her) but she understands that Max lives indoors and sleeps on my bed and is basically a "spoiled rotten dog" and I know I could trust her to take good care of him.

Teenie would go to my mom. She's relatively low maintenance, and mom already loves her.

Emma is harder. She has soooo many issues, with food being a MAJOR factor for her. Her allergies, liver, and siezures can make her one MEAN dog. When I say MEAN, I mean that nobody can touch her without being bitten (blood, scars, and all). She would probably have to be euthanized.

If something were to happen to me and DH, the basenjis would go back to their breeders  (Another plus of getting a dog from a reputable breeder!)  and the Malinois would have to go back to Malinois rescue per our contract.  There are LOTS of agility people who'd like the Mal, for some reason there's not a line for the badsenjis.  Gee, wonder why.  Actually my brindle dog would have a wonderful life with his breeder.  Don't think she'd do agility with him, but maybe she'd take him to the nursing homes.  She's down to his dam and grand-dam, so adding him would be no problem.  Maybe she'd even take tri-ing.  Tri-ing's breeder (also co-breeder of brindlewonderkid) would take very good care of him, but she has lots of dogs, so she'd probably want to place tri-ing.

Gosh, I'd either send mine to Lori or Jaime.  Actually, my sons would divy them up.

Glenda, Gracie will come knocking on your door... she'll blend right in (sort of). You're not too far, she can find her way! LOL@

Jen, it would be anyone's guess if they could get along.. Boss is funny sometimes. He either loves other dogs or can't stand them, I never know which one it will be.

Maybe you guys can all pass him around... Callie can use the herbal treatments she passed onto me to deal with his chronic pain, Mic can take him and teach him how to act right once and for all, then Jen can have him for a bit to play with stink face, then he'd have to go to Glenda's to visit with Gracie (and he's very partial to gsds usually), and he'd have to make a trip to Jaime's too.. Anyone else want to see him???

I have to laugh about it, but truth be told.. it's been something I've lost sleep over in the past.

Jen, we know that Max & Grady get along great.  He'd be my motivation to clean up my house some too.  There's too much crap here for him to get into. ~L~  I love Max.  Hes' a great dog.

Sure Annie, sure. By some do you mean, pick up and throw away the stuff after he chews it up, because that's his preferred method. He'd really rather you didn't get rid of anything before he's had a chance to inspect it.

Yes,  my kids.  I have one for each of them..lol,lol  I even have a small trust for vet bills and such.

Awww, Annie!  THANKS!  Aspen is MORE than welcome in my home too!  I don't have papillon's, but Nikki probably doesn't know she's not one [:)]  Debbie's a great home, too though.

It's such a sad thing to think about.. but essential.  I think most my friends now I post here, but I'll make something in writing so someone will know to come here to find out about the girls should they need to.

Idog is an even more valuable research than originally thought [:D]  Yay, Dog.com!

Although my SO's family members might want to take Chase, I don't think that I would like that.  For one thing, we live an 8-hour flight away.  I don't think that Chase would need the trauma of a flight after losing us.  Besides, although they absolutely love dogs, I'm not sure that Chase would get the exercise and stimulation that he needs.

If both SO and I were to die, I would want the following people consulted in finding him a home (in this order): boarder (hopefully she'd decide to keep him!), doggy daycare people, trainer, Chesapeake Bay Rescue organization.

Thanks for bringing this up.  I need to put all of this in writing and make sure to have some money put away for good care until he finds a loving home.

In my will I have made arrangments for my dogs.
I only would trust certain family members with them and
have put money aside for their care.  The family member
also has the option of living in my house until the death of the dog
so the dog will not be uprooted.    [:)]

If it were just me who died, my husband would of course keep the dogs.  If it were both of us:

Bandit would go to his original owner, my daughter.
Smokey would go to my mother-in-law (the caregiver of all unwanted pets).
Lucy would go to either my son or my brother.
Cinnamon would go to either one of my sons.
Kuma, Minky and Dango would be euthanized and buried with us.  None of them would ever adjust to having a new person.
I hope we never have to put that plan into action!

Wow I've been gone for 3 days and I come back and idog has gone DEEP!  I'm not really sure where my dogs would go.  If it were just me, BF would most likely keep Crusher since he's trained already, but he loves Keira too.  Onyx is another matter.  She drives him crazy.  Plus I dont really think he has enough time for any of them.  My son would go to my parents and my dad has already tried to sneak off with Crusher a few times lol.  But I dont really think they would give them the life they deserve.  My friend who mushes might take Crusher too but only if he got along with the rest of her dogs.  Her GSD hate hate hates male dogs and only gets along with her male because he's been there since he was a baby.  And the girls are out of the question because her other female has real dominance issues.  One of my neices loves huskies but I dont think one would be good for her.  The other is active enough but with her Team Canada Hockey aspirations I dont think she will have time in the next 10 years or so.  So I guess my options right now are either outlive my dogs or come here for help.  While I would rather outlive them obviously, it would be comforting to know BF could come here and ask for help were something to happen.  Either by directing him to finding the right sources or to actually take one or 2.  Hmmm. Ron?  lol

Aww, Jen and Hill, I'd be honored :)

I've thought about it, and Lori (Big, Trinity, and Solo's mom) has first dibs on Molly.

I think my parents would keep Choo-Choo, Abby, Blacky, and Brutus.  Assuming Boss was still around if I suddenly passed, he is to be euthanized due to rapidly declining health.  I don't think anyone could/would care for him the way I do (other than an i-dogger, of course!).  If for some reason they couldn't care for them, I think Choo-Choo would fit in perfectly with Hill's crew [;)].  I'd have folks fighting over Brutus, but I think I'd see if mkampa could take him on for me.  I'm not sure where Waylon and Willy would go :(  No one seems to want a ;pittie mix.  I'd like for them to go togther, too.

I don't know about Kitty.  My parents love her, but they do not want a cat, and would not want to take care of her.  She's semi-special needs- sometimes has litter box issues, and has in the past, had seizures.

If Dach (foster) were still around he should probably be euthanized due to his aggressive tendencies with strangers.  I think thats everyone.

I think that is everyone.  Charlie, a foster, is meeting a potential adopter next weekend, so I didn't add him.

My mom always cares for the boys when I'm away, and she's used to Jules' strange quirks[:)]
