Dog Showing

I would love to have a show dog, but the doberman ring is always so competitive that it is a bit scary.

Colliewog- that's the thing I think I am going to enjoy MOST about showing Mal- no more lifting a 45 pound dog onto the table!

Laurelin_429 , I know your handler and just love her she is a good friend of mine and my husband.  I have probably seen your pap at the shows.  She is very nice and Jackie just loves all her babies.  Congratulations on thier championships.

I have been breeding a showing Chihuahuas for about 16 years.  I love it and have withdraw during the off season here in Texas.  We are headed to NY to The Garden this next week.  I hope you can all watch for us on TV but I know competition will be tough.  You can check out some of our champions on my website listed below.  In the meantime here is my girl I am taking to NY.

Try having the Marquis in your backyard... I don't envy the Dobe folks showing around here!

That's awesome, yes she's a very nice lady and was recommended to us through a few friends.  He was handled by her all the time except when she got injured a while back.  Do you remember her falling on a comb in the ring?  Rebecca handled him then.  And she also showed her specials dog, Merlin, over him.  Then Victor Cohen handled Beau against Jackie and Merlin.  I don't know if you know him.  She was always doting on Beau while he was there too.

Yes I remember him and I also know Merlin.  Rebecca and Victor are both very good with the dogs also.

Bichons and toy poodles.  Fun stuff. Although I really prefer agility myself. :)

I show and breed Shelties and Whippets. I started in Borzoi 12 years ago. I still love the breed but will never breed them as they typically have very large litters (9+). That's a lot of large puppies to place. I'll get another some day, but it has to live up to the quality of a male that I had. He was perfect, except was not socialized as a young dog. I handle for others. I've shown a number of different breeds. Right now I'm showing an Aussie that only needs a major to finish, a Dobe puppy, and a family of Bichons. I've shown Dobes, Boxers, Rough Collies, Lowchens, Irish Terriers, Whippets, Greyhounds, Pharoah Hounds, English Spring Spaniels, Irish Setters, Tibetan Terriers, English Cocker Spaniels, Shelties, Havanese, Japanese Chins, Borzois, Smooth Fox Terriers, Afghan Hounds, American Eskimo Dogs, English Foxhounds, Golden Retrievers, Basset Hounds, Cairn Terriers, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Curly Coated Retriever, Field Spaniels, Irish Wolfhounds, Lhasa Apsos, Miniature Schnauzers, Newfoundlands, Salukis, Scottish Deerhounds, Shih Tzus.

Wow, until now I had no idea how many breeds of dogs I have shown over the past 15 years. Pays to work for handlers.

I show mostly in the Mid-Atlantic region of the East Coast.

I just started showing last June, and boy has it been fun.  I joined the local breed club and everyone is so supportive.  I finished my first dog at the beginning of January - Suds, and also put Rally Novice and Advanced on him.  Most people I've met have been really great -except for this one guy and his Sammy at a show in December jeesh.   I have Josie to show, but according to everyone in the club she is going to finish real fast so unless she ends up being specials material I will be looking for another dog to show real soon.  The Bug has bitten [;)]

I don't show, but, all our purebreds have been finished champions in Canada and the States...Dilon and our old Newf Dilon were finished in Bermuda.  They all got their championship titles pretty quick and all of our dogs have taken a few BIS.

I've never really found conformation dogs shows all that interesting...just a beauty pagent for dogs...and I don't watch human beauty contests either..lol[:D]
