How long is your dog crated for?

Excellent post Mic.  And Trish, yes, I concur.  I could EASILY put two in one crate and still have room left over.  I typically keep the crate doors shut since someone has recently decided that HE is the crate cop and gives anyone heck for going into the "wrong" crate.

I agree. As to the large crates, mmm-hm. I could actually fit all FOUR of my dogs comfortably in Junie's crate. In fact, I used to crate Bree and Ginger together in that crate until June came. My dogs could ride tandem in their car crates too. Bree and June can be found curled up in one crate or another any given time - just because.

    Gracie is crated:

    Weekdays
    9am - 12pm (3 hrs)
    1pm - 5pm (4 hrs)
    12am - 6am (6 hrs)

    Weekends
    1am - 8am (8 hours)

Around 13 hours a day during the week and usually around 8 hours on the weekends. Her crate is large enough that my boyfriend can get in it with her. Unless we aren't home, the crate door is left open and she will frequently go in there to nap.

Romy was crated until she was about 1 while I was at work during the day.  She's had free roam of the house for about 4 years now, and doesn't tear anything up.  She won't even touch her toys until I get home.  She just sleeps and hardly moves a muscle.  I know because I've put my webcam on her to watch her while I was at work.  I saw her ear twitch once.

Winston is put in the bathroom from 7:30 - 5.  He has blankets, toys, and a potty pad in there.  I plan on beginning crate training with him in just a few weeks and breaking him from the potty pads all together.  (However he's in the hospital with parvo right now, and I'm really hoping that being in a kennel all day at the hospital isn't going to affect his crate training.  That JUST occured to me.)
