Could a Stranger Walk Your Dog?

I've handed Emma's leash over to someone who was a total stranger to her. They got the bulldozer version of Emma. She's only 17 pounds, though, so they handled it just fine[:D]

Teenie might flip out, if I handed her to a stranger. She's a flipping out kind of dog.

Yeah, a stranger could walk either of them, but it's only because of size.

I can't even walk my dog!  She refuses!

Without me being here at my house, no way......at the vet, well, 3 of my 5,yes,with the other 2, I have to be there.

Max would waltz out the door with the Boston Strangler if he snapped his leash on and said "lets go."

[sm=rotfl.gif] Roxie would do the same.

Um, if the stranger could get close enough to grab charlies leash she would be all for letting the stranger walk her,,,,of course they would be in for the walk of their life!!!! Not many people are used to having to be COMPLETELY focused on the dog during the ENTIRE walk, and for charlie to behave it takes you watching and reminding her just about every other second. Actually, that would be a fun test to try someday if I could find a stranger to her that I would trust to take her around the block.

Both of mine would go with the Boston Strangler too. They have yet to meet a person they don't love.

Aspen would be no problem.  Anyone could walk him but he'd prefer that they took him for a ride in the car.

Grady would willingly with anyone.  They just have to be prepared to talk to him constantly & keep an eye out for small furries or gell their arm pulled out of their socket.

Raja would also let ANYONE walk her, get her leash and she is jumping and barking to go. But....I can barley walk her and she has a halti on, she has gotten out of the Halti 3 times now! She will be going to training in Spring so hopefully that will help, but if she sees something, like a squirel, dog, cat she will try her hardest to get to it she goes crazy.

I feel confident that a stranger could get the same Jake that I get when I walk him, but my issue is that the stranger wouldn't KNOW Jake and therefore wouldn't behave towards him the same way I do. Even when I let my sister walk Jake, I have to constantly remind her of certain things to say and do (such as stop Jake at a sit at every cross walk, let him stop to sniff bushes, say "cross cross" whenever we cross a street, etc. simple stuff like that). So Jake immediately knows something different is up, so the stranger would get pulled every which way and they don't have a clue what to do, lol

Depends on who the stranger is. If is is a guy, then probably not. She would probably run. But ahe has let a three year old walk her before while I was watching.

Hehehe...NOpe, no way, no how.  Unless I gave the "stranger" the leash, these dogs wouldn't go near 'em.  It took my dog walker 3 weeks to be able to befriend Xerxes enough to get his collar on in the first 10 minutes or so.

Yes. How pleasurable that walk would be depends on how dog savvy the stranger was. My dogs love people, and would willingly go with a stranger. When it comes to walking, if they can tell the person on the other end of the leash doesn't know what they're doing, they'd willingly drag that person around.

Six of the seven dogs would walk with a stranger.  The Chyna, Bevo, & Brinxx have already had to stand quietly with a stranger for their CGC test. Shooter, Schatzi, & Link are socialized well enough for a stranger to handle. Then there is Beacon. He walks with me pretty well, but he is still much to nervous to walk with anyone else.  There is just no way that I would turn over his leash to a stranger.

    P.S.  Houndlove, I want to walk Marlowe.....Please.

And if a 150 pound great dane doesn't want to walk, he doesn't walk. I never worry about dog-knappers.

My dog would walk with anyone. It's sad, kind of. I'd like to think it would only be me...

Yep, although she would probably be a little shy at first.
