The Truth About Peta!

At first I thought they were a good organization, but I heard someone say something about them trying to get rid of all domestic animals and that means dogs and cats!!!Now that  I know I'm so angry[:@]

I am not for PETA.  They have become something horrible.  If they were always something horrible, then that's even worse.

I think the animals as slaves and the desire for the eradication of "pets" is something that I can understand, but fortunately probably impossible and that's why their methods have become insane. I can't imagine my life without pets and wouldn't want it that way, but they're thinking is for teh "whole. "

Realistically, think of your own block that you live on.  My three dogs have a very good life, IMO.  Every other dog within my immediate area is living a life of existence and not much more.  We on Idog are not the norm.  I believe the majority of dog owners have dogs whose lives are, at best, tolerable.  Even my neighbor, whom I love, has dogs that she adores, but her idea of treating them nicely is to give them food and "human" love.   Most dogs lack exercise, stimulation, a reason to live....  IMO.  I wish it weren't so.  I think the fact that dogs lives aren't so great is validated by a trip to the local shelter.

PETA has always been something horrible. Read some of Ingrid Newkirk's work to learn about it. "Free The Animals"  is one that's pretty telling. It's about the Animal Liberation Front, but it talks quite a bit about the founding of PETA. I wouldn't recommend buying it, but I've got a copy I'd be happy to send out to anyone who wants it as long as I don't get it back and it gets passed on to other folks.

I agree that people should treat animals ethically. And wholesale killing of adoptable pets is not ethical. Neither is domestic terrorism.

I was actually looking for some places to donate funds but did not find anything yet that I had considered as "hrm... that sounds good". Checked PETA as well and their organization doesn't interest me at all.

Does PETA want a ban of only domesticated "cats and dogs"? I assume other pets are not on the "ban" list such as fish, rabbits, pigs, ponies, horses, and on and on... I'll have to look at the videos tonight :) Heck, even if I don't have a dog, this is some interesting stuff to sift through [:D]

Yup, I don't think they want us to enslave any animals.

I find it hilarious when some celebrity is endorsing PETA, goes to show how much attention some of these guys pay to who they are endorsing.

Funny fact, well, not funny at all actually, but the two top domestic terrorist organizations (as classified by the FBI) are the E.L.F. (earth liberation front) and the A.L.F. (Animal liberation front). The A.L.F. has actually recieved money from both PETA and Ingrid whatshername personally to pay for legal defense at some point.

As environmentally concious as I'd like to think I am, I've always thought that fanatical clowns like these take away from the seriousness of whatever cause they take and turn it into a joke. While I agree on animal rights and environmental responsibility, the fanatism that drives these people takes away from the original cause, people that are being advertised to do not see the cause, they simply see the nutcase pushing it.
